Terrific read so far, John.

Glad you enjoyed Colombia. I spent a year in Bogota in 2007. Fell in love with the place. The food, beautiful people and incredibly proud. As for Botero, there was a superb permanent exhibition in Bogota, not too far from the the Museo del Oro. A couple if years since I have been there, I'm assuming it's still there? Shame you missed that. Maybe next time.

Will certainly follow.

Pleasant 3.5h drive from Vilnius to RIX today. Flat topography of broad-scale farming and forest.

Lithuania has a spine of 130kph motorways; not so Latvia so travel time is slower.

just waiting in RIX for 1h flight to HEL. Overnight in HEL, then xLHR-xJNB-WDH tomorrow afternoon.

Tesla S P-85D (the new AWD version) on display at HEL. Sigh...

(Tip for Uppy: it doesn't have a carburettor .)

I have the AY Premium Lounge all to myself.

And I do like pickled herrings and Champagne for brunch :).

Nice cloud formation over the North Sea.

Breaking through low cloud over the upper Thames on approach to LHR.

One down, two go ;):).

Actually I like the Teslas :) Bit pricey for my modest budget though.. not to mention the lack of charging opportunities in suburban Melbourne... but maybe my next car :)

Not being a "car" enthusiast as such I was a little confused as I didn't think modern cars had carburettors

The Teslas are awesomely quiet. As a pedestrian, I was photographing cable cars in California Street in SFO standing in the middle of the street confident as I knew I would hear cars struggling up the steep hill. And I did...... until a Tesla purred up behind me - a blast on his horn scared the bejeesus out of me  !

EDIT: apparently there are charging stations (being) constructed that will allow practical MEL-SYD travel on the Hume.

The Botero museum is certainly still there near the Museo del Oro.

My family and assorted friends travelled to Columbia last September for my sons wedding to a Columbian girl he met in the 3 years he spent in Bogota learning spanish and teaching english. He went for 6 months and fell in love with the place and Silvana. Apparently it happens a lot in Columbia.

1 week in Bogota, 1 week in Valledupar for the wedding and then off on the Familymoon on San Andreas in the Caribbean with a travelling party of 14. Can certainly recommend Columbia.

Enjoying the report JohnM

Currently in the SLOW lounge in JNB waiting for flight to WDH. I know why they call it slow - the internet connection is dreadful. Trying to upload a pic or two but the wheel just spins forever.

Faithful TrakDot reports my bag is in JNB - two down, one to go ;):).

Watching the incoming traffic at LHR from the outer deck in the BA F lounge.

Uppy thinks they do :p:p:mrgreen::mrgreen:. She has a deep and disturbing aversion to turbos, so she must believe in carbies...

Don't worry MrM... you possibly don't understand my complex desires :p but diesel sedans and getz are certainly well below your turbo :p:p
Mmmm carbies... those were the days.. when cars were cars :)

Ooohh, Uppy, I think I just may have figured out your complex desires ;):p:mrgreen:.

Luggage arrived. Who ever thought it wouldn't? :).

My office for the next 11 days. Yes, Uppy, it is diesel - but that's allowed for in this type of chariot ;):).
