Despite the stories on other boards predicting chaos with Immigration and other delays at LHR in the lead-up to the Games, I had an excellent experience coming off SQ 308 at 1500 (UK time) today. Not only did I have only a 5-min delay to get my accreditation pass verified but I was out through Immigration, collected my two bags and was on the train to Paddington within 20-mins of arriving at the gate. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Mind you, there is still a strike predicted for the day before the Opening Ceremony and the traffic from Paddington to my accommodation in the east end was as bad as ever.

Yes we had no issues getting out of Heathrow and we used a driver to get us straight down to Canary Wharf seeing we had luggage for a month.

they have just opened the vip lane for traffic just wait to see how this works already
large amounts of people tube packed and to top it off it is very Hot

DLR is our pick to get to the main stadium. The bus was the worst.
Jubilee line is just all right from Canary Wharf.

The only issue I had when i arrived to weeks ago was there was no immigration officer for the Olympic family that kept us waiting.. you missed Monday AM which was the busiest from memory.

Olympic lanes are running but from Russell square i am still beating the bus by taking the javelin from St. Pancras INT. Games time may change that..

I've been through LHR 3 times this last week - arriving into T3 (AA from DFW) on Friday, arriving into T5 (BA from BRU) on Monday and departing T5 (BA to JFK) on Tuesday. All 3 times the queues were far shorter than expected - both T3 and T5 arrivals were completed (aircraft to kerb) in less than 20 minutes with hand luggage only.

The customs agent at T5 on Monday mentioned that things were expected to get busier from Wednesday as the larger Olympic contingents were due to arrive from then onwards.
