Well after a visit to CGK last weekend I have finally hit LTG..

Although I joined QFF in 1995, a lot of QF flying didn't start til 2005

I was silver from 2006-2009
Gold from 2009-2010
Platinum 2010-present.

Looking at my stats it took nearly 500 QF flights to do.

I think if QANTAS axed LTS/LTG with no warning they would have a lot of angry customers. For some of us achieving Lifetime status can take decades of flying and requires planning over a long period of time. If QANTAS took lifetime status away as a goal there'd be less reasons to be loyal to flying QANTAS.

True, but next year may be my last as WP due to reduced travel, so having the safety net is great.

You could be waiting a long time as QANTAS has given every indication that they have no plans to introduce that unfortunately. A lot of us would like it if they did (but only if we'd qualify and if not flying enough to retain WP once it's introduced).

Congratulations Kermatu! Think you might have a long wait for them to bring in LTP but as you say LTG is a good fallback for when/if you are no longer WP.

Recent DONE4 for work reaped 1020 SC to take me to within 490 SC of LTG, although I think would already be there if not for simpler and fairer

Need to be a little more creative - a DONE4 should reap 1500 SCs fairly easily . How many sectors did you use? (Please don't say <16 ).
