Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

since the facelift on the FF landing page, I have noticed that reference to attaining LTG has gone and it now shows 'Enjoy your Lifetime Qantas Club membership.' - which is not the same!

My app card still shows LTG. I am currently plat, so perhaps if I drop down at some point the LTG will reappear.

Hello friends
My app showing my status credit accumulation is finally working again and I have realised I'm about 500 credits away from the lifetime gold. 13 years of WP has done it and at a little under the age of 34 I'm content there's no way I'm going to earn Life plat.

Has there been any changes to any recognition of lifetime gold ? Do you sit higher in the priority of anything in between regular status rungs ? Do you get anything special. Maybe a metal gold card presented on the plane ? Something. Anything ? Or means absolutely nothing whilst you continue with wp ?

If I suspect the answer to the above is nothing. I'm feeling underwhelmed. Let down. Give me something guys to feel a little cheery haha or just a self realisation how much cosmic radiation I've enjoyed haha

Ps do we have an idea how many lifetime gold members there are ? Or is this club huuuge

Short answer: no, there's absolutely no recognition of LTG with Qantas.

No extra recognition, obviously QF recognise LTG for all SG benefits.

Although probably lower than most SG for upgrades etc than someone who has qualified the normal way due to PCV.

Once you pick up those last remaining SCs, post here. We will acknowledge and give the recognition deserved! 🥂🍾👏

Ticked over to Lifetime Gold last week, 24 years after reluctantly signing up to QFF due Ansett demise plus then-employer travel policy.

Only really put some effort into SC accumulation the last 10 years. WP baggage allowance very useful for taking racing sails and other equipment to numerous Asian regattas!

The "welcome to lifetime gold” email really inspired me… now only 60,630SC to LTP 🫣😆

Next trip in June is QR return to Europe 👍

Credit to Velocity?
Nah, to QF as close to WP requal. Asian racing boat now sold so fewer trips north. Looking at maybe Turkish status match during Aug for Star Alliance as have another QR Europe trip in Sep that includes some *A flights. Decisions, decisions…

Hi John,

We appreciate every time you choose to fly with Qantas and our partners.

And while your flight activity for the past 12-months shows you haven't met the requirements to retain Platinum status, in recognition of all the flying you've done since joining the program, you will continue to enjoy Gold benefits for life.

I think I had Lifetime Gold 10 years ago but thanks for reminding me Qantas.

Just looking at luggage allowance and both Platinum and Gold are allowed 2 pieces domestically @ 32kg per piece when flying economy. And internationally Platinum is entitled to 50kg and Gold 46kg.

Also Platinum earn 100% status bonus whilst Gold earns 75% bonus.

With lounge access I've lost domestic business lounge and international First lounges which is probably the only real loss as I don't rate seating very highly as long as I get aisle seat close to the front of cabin I am fine.

Sorry Qantas but with my planned flying patterns much easier to earn Virgin Gold or Platinum much more easily.

Ticked over to LTS after the HKG Lounge Crawl event. Whilst that's nothing special in and of itself, I'm very happy to see my distance to LTG now showing < 50% to go. It will look even better once I get the additional DSC points I'm owed (and am going to have to chase up after the "up to 8 weeks" period expires at the end of next week :().

Even a year or so back, LTS seemed an eternity away. But courtesy of the wealth of knowledge on this site, I closed that gap to LTS in no time and LTG is very realistic within the next few years. So a big thank you to all those who post their tips, ticks and insights on AFF!! 😊🥂

My turn!

On landing back in SYD from a short visit to ZQN with the family last Thursday, I clocked over the SCs required for my 2024-25 WP renewal, and the long awaited QFF Lifetime Gold threshold. I also renewed Accor ALL Platinum the same day, following checkout from the MGallery in Queenstown, so was feeling rather accomplished!

Joined QFF in August 2002
Bronze / Silver + QC for the first 11 years. Lots of different carriers in play.
Focused on QF/OW and made SG in early 2013, and then WP in late 2013 and haven't fallen back from WP since

Mostly international work travel in Y for the first 10 years (aside from a few LONE4s), and then started to move towards more W & J through self-funded upgrades for work travel, and paid J for leisure. Work travel fell off the cliff in 2020 and it's been 100% leisure travel / spend since then. PC+ carryover and the QF Premier Ti card 20% bonus SCs keep it within fairly easy reach.

I'm mid-40s at the moment, so should be able to extract some decent value from QFF LTG, though have grown so accustomed to J travel, now, that I'm not sure it will get used much (single class flights aside). If nothing else, I should at least have access to earlier award seats or upgrades with a pinch of priority over the masses. LTP not at all on the radar, and unlikely to shift OWE camps until our travel patterns change, or work travel returns to the fray.

Thanks to AFF and all on here who have helped me along the way. I truly enjoy the [virtual] company & banter, and love that I've been able to give back with some of my own help and humour over the years, as well 🤓

Cheers,
Matt.

Congrats!

Now, PC/PC+ to earn SCs on the points churn to maintain the WP/OWE lifestyle!

Well done! I joined QFF in 2001, but late in my time. Your experiences match mine with lots of Y, and some long haul international travel helped me get LTG in 2017. Struggling now to maintain WP so fingers crossed. You have a lot longer to enjoy LTG travel so make the most of it. You never know but LTP may be achievable.
