Lion Air crash in Bali?

There are many airports with water at either end of the runway, so it's a strange comment. Especially as they recently passed their safety inspection too!

There are not that many handling the traffic it does from such a short length, the comment re overruns is pertinent and applicable to any airport.

While not the youngest plane to be written off... still pretty impressive to write off a plan that was roughly three months old.

It was an epic fail by the guy with the tin of paint to remove the Lion name. Maybe he could not swim?
It Is wonderful that everyone survived but there were injuries.

Reconsidering my Maldives Conrad HH awards point splurge next year when I can get a complimentary water bungalow business suite for peanuts in crystal blue waters in Bali with Lion Air. Can't imagine any Beach Villas available so they must all be Over Water Bungalows.

Do you think they would cut 1 mile off the total earning miles for their FFP since it didn't really make the landing strip?

Does that mean if they go off the other end, you get an extra mile. :p

I undertand Virgin Australia's three flights into DPS that day had the following experiences:

VA4197 ex-BNE conducted a visual approach and landed on runway 09.

VA4145 ex-SYD executed a missed approach due to heavy rain and poor visibilty. Another approach saw the aircraft land without incident with the crew able to see the Lion Air aircraft in the middle at the time of the second approach.

VA4195 ex-ADL diverted to BME due to DPS being closed. It was refuelled and continued to DPS for a non-eventful 09 VOR approach.
