Little things I like

LTI❤️. Our first credit electricity account. Why we didn't get one last summer I have no idea. We do pump out five times more than we use so...

How close Auntie Amne’s, Starbucks and the Sprinkles vending machine are at DFW A terminal. 🤣🤣

(Pic too large to upload from my phone)

Booking flights for mum to visit from London

I'm off to a conference in Basel in May and she suggested getting same flight as me for one of the legs

Specific return flights on JL to do this very expensive ~$4k even in Y

After days of juggling, l get a Y one-way outbound on JL with a view to a points redemption for inbound

Initial searches show good Y availability on QR but then spot a Y+ on BA. Book that last night using AS points feeling pleased with myself

Look on QF this morning and there is Y+ availability on QF-great can give her some lounge passes

As I click through get given the option to upgrade to J. Against all odds (I'm QF Bronze) there is a full J redemption on QF2

And the AS redemption is fully cancellable with no penalty (and 85k AS miles not far off 155k QF points in my personal value)

The only downside is that she'll tell me off for being extravagant 😀

I'm sure she'll be delighted (secretly, perhaps) that you've been so thoughtful and a fab way to start her visit.

As most people know I am a naughty little boy. The little thing i liked yesterday was in the mall. it started with a WCMO moment with a young lad weaving in and out on his electric scooter. Was confronted by a security guy who told him scooters had to be walked in the mall. He just scooted around him turning back and saying something I didn't hear. But in doing so didn't notice the cleaner with his trolley in front of him. So he acquainted himself with the floor. The Security guy comes up and says that's why you should walk your scooter in the mall. Too easy to have accidents.

Pure schadenfreude - love it

Booked a villa in Spain last year via exp*di* for family holiday

Had clicked through the US topc*shb*ck site. Ended up cancelling the booking but the USD385 cashback has landed and now in my PayPal account

(Makes up for the $189 I missed out on at HI Vanuatu when reception amalgamated payment for a reward and revenue booking)

In a world of social media influencers and tik-tok/you-tube "stars" where it all seems very fake/over the top, someone different popped in my feed a few months ago. A Canadian veteran (ex military) in his late 60's under the name of TheWhyteElephant. Makes regular videos where he just is making different types of (largely ice cream based) drinks etc, and has a catch phrase "let's fire up the old blender" as he starts up his 50 yo blender that is very much something from my childhood. He has Milkshake Monday, Midweek Mocktails, Floatday Friday and Sundae Sundays. Really nice simple wholesome content. Really very Canadian as well.

In the last couple of weeks it has been a recent employee at our local Coles. A very young new employee. She has been stationed in the self check out area. As usual I have a little chat and obviously made an impression. today was the second time she has scanned the shop and I do the packing. Speeds things up a lot. Then when I am leaving she opens the gate remotely before I reach the sensor. but that didn't happen today. Then I noticed she was helping another grey haired older gentleman scanning his purchases.

When your sons company in the UK receives a parking ticket fine for when he parked there in December at the place where we were staying. I have status with IHG and sent the accommodation a letter last night asking for the invoice for accommodation and the park fee we paid. Did this last night. The hotel responded tonight, with paid parking invoice and sons reg number on the invoice. Then a follow up email saying they would pay the fine if there was a further issue.

Impressed!

After living somewhere (Singapore) for almost 15 years where there is very little temperature variation from day to day or even from day to night, a I little thing I like is being back "home" in southern Victoria, even for just a couple of weeks like I am now, where you get to appreciate some variations,. Like today, as per below. Sitting having some spritz and cheese/dip and felt the house and windows crack just after 6:30pm and knew if I went outside it would be nice and cool, 12 degrees cooler in fact ..
