Little things I like

Apparently my plane to CGK yesterday was “Clare Valley” but no Riesling in the J cabin!
😉
A few years ago on my birthday, this Leeton boy found himself on VH-XZA.
Flight was SYD-ADL, so of course I had birthplace views for a spell!
No idea what the odds are on that one.

Yesterday arrived to lovely Sydney weather with rain and wind. So no public transport this time.
We are travelling HCO this time so straight down to taxi. Got an older UK fellow who knew the eastern suburbs roads really well so a quick trip to the IC Double Bay. The meter read $56.20. Asked if paying by card and I said cash. So he said $50 will be fine.

He probably benefited from the karma as he got another fare straight away.

Another today. Walking back to the hotel through a mall when 8 young women were walking the other way stretched right across the walkway.
Hello, hello I said to myself here is another WCMO post coming. I stopped against a shop window. The woman coming towards me was using her phone as a mirror checking her hair. She walked straight into me and reflexively put her arms around me. I told her I liked her too much to the amusement of her friends who couldn’t stop laughing. So it became a LTIL.

Collected 8 parcels from the local post office today. I dropped half of them before getting to car but sweet girl (10’ish) and her father saw me .. she asked if I needed help picking them up. At that same time husband had parked the car and managed to come over and help me pick them up. I was so impressed / I told the dad what a kind respectful child he had raised.

… sadly why are manners so rare now that it was such a unique (refreshing) experience

At Carols in the local suburban park run by Rotary so not very big. A young girl in front of us maybe 3 or 4 did not stop running the whole time, she was so excited and had her microphone so she could sing along. I was exhausted just watching her but she was so sweet enjoying herself

In October I managed to book SQ J rewards seats MEL-SIN, SIN-FRA, CPH-SIN - but I still needed to get back to SYD. The flight from Copenhagen lands in the AM and the rewards flights to SYD usually leave after midnight. Over the last few months I'd talked myself into a Scoot Plus paid seat for the final leg...daytime flight, how bad could it be, right?

I randomly logged on today and found new rewards seats available, so cancelled CPH-SIN and rebooked FRA-SIN-SYD...noice!

I like summer fruit season. Currently harvesting from the garden: raspberries, strawberries, blueberries (difficult!), nectarines, peaches plus the usual lemons, limes and mandarins (oranges - 2 - came off last month). Plus rhubarb (stewed rhubarb on ice cream 😍 ), potatoes, garlic, peas & beetroot. Tomatoes just ripening.

Yesterday there was a young fellow who was having a WCMO afternoon and WCHO was me. But I had a LTIL. I was driving to the spermarket and doing this at least twice a week I know what the traffic lights will be doing. Unles driving >80kmh you are going to get 3 reds. So I take the foo off the accelerator and am pretty good at getting to the first set of lights just as they turn green. As I was turning left as the young fellow behind was he was getting impatient even flashing his lights..
So after turning left into a 4 lane road he accelerated past me and kept his foot on the accelerator so had to stop at the red light. I did my usual and passed him at the lights. but the third light is always green when the second turns green but vey soon goes red so he well and truly beat me there.
I know I don't have to slow down for the 4th light. But I note that he followed me around and into the Supermarket parking lot where I got the last spot under shade.
The story of the old bull and the young bull came to mind.

So, it's good to be home eh @RooFlyer?!

Sounds like a bumper crop @RooFlyer do the birds get at your berries.
We have to net ours

Glad we don’t have Rabbits in Queensland since they are illegal, they were stopped by the Great Wall of China

Rabbits here are fair dinkum in plague proportions. In an evening 2-3 on any given lawn; quite unafraid. Have to choose your garden plants carefully, else they'll be taken to the ground overnight.

Spent some time with family last week, including a dinner at my sister's, where we got to meet her new (to us, not to her) partner and his 4yo daughter. Our brother was there with his two kids, and my brother and sister's mother was also there.

So, my teen arrives and immediately the three kids gravitate to her; her little cousins know and remember her and the 4yo tagged along. All of the other adults comment throughout the night how the kids are all much quieter since my teen arrived. :D

A few nights later, my teen is telling my Mum about the night. My teen commented that at stages, her littlest cousin (about to turn 4) was a bit possessive of her (my teen), saying to my sister's partner's daughter "she's *my* cousin", and so on.

Unprompted, my teen gently said "we're all cousins now". I thought that was really sweet.

We've had a lot of combinations in my generation, as you may guess from above with comments such as "my brother and sister's mother" and "my mother" they are different women, and I've tried to make sure my teen isn't too particular about who in my family is my half-sibling vs step-sibling, and my current step-mother is a grandmother, not a step-grandmother. We hadn't seen my first step-mother in about five years, but I've also generally called her Granny <first name>/what my niece and nephew call her when talking about her with my teen.
