One can but hope. :mrgreen:markis10 said:Didnt Foxtel announce the fotty channel would cease at the end of the year?
My guess is that most cricket tragics will tune into whatever game is being broadcast. And any game being broadcast has to be better than a few quick highlights from yesterday's news, no? (Sharyn Ghidella notwithstanding ). In any case, you'd be able to see up-to-the-minute highlights of the ashes on Sky News on Virgin Blue.Standby said:I've just a quick trawl of whats playing now and its just like the song "54 channels and nothings on."
Repeats, last weekends footy and if your flying tomorrow there's Darts and Nasscar.
Sorry Dave the ashes in OZ this year is not on Fox ..its covered by the anti siphoning law..maybe you'll have Zmbabwe vs Sri Lanka thats the level of FOX cricket coverage.
Like most good things they are timed to be on live when most peaople are at home..ie after 7pm..and then mostly, like all the footy codes on weekends.
Well, there is a fair amount of untrue criticism posted about Virgin Blue in these forums. Qantas fans seem quick to dismiss new initiatives by DJ. I think we should all be happy about the great leaps forward they are making for the Australian travelling public. Crazydave is simply putting the record straight, and rightly so.Standby said:I'm happy your proud of yr new initiative but a bit of class in your delivery wouldnt go astray

FOX SPORTS 1
FOX SPORTS 2
FOX Footy Channel
FUEL
How pissed off will Qantas be, sponsoring the Australian Cricket Team and only being able to show canned highlights of yesterday's news when you will be able to see every ball of the Ashes from 40,000 feet?

You can always check (and download to your laptop) the program guide before you leave for the airport (or at the airport if you have internet access). I for one will pay esp. if they are showing something that I'm interested in, esp live sport.NM said:Do you get to look at the programming schedule before paying? If I knew I could get a few hours of Mythbusters, I'd have my CC out faster than Jamie can grab the switch to detonate an explosion . But if all that was on offer was crab fishing on the Bering Sea, and no cricket being played, then I'll be content to listen to a few Goonshow episodes on my PPC.
Perhaps a scrolling programming guide covering the next few hours on display in the gate lounge may whet the appetite?

TV Guide
I supect the next title on AFF will be: "How do I know whether live TV will be on my DJ flight?", then a list will appear with "DJ rego's with live TV enabled:mrgreen:"
Wunala Dreaming said:oz_mark and kpc, I've had a little bit of time at my disposal and didn't have much else to do so I created a Virgin Blue fleet information thread over at Flyertalk (much like the Qantas one). After posting I came across to AFF and saw both of your messages.
I'm no Virgin Blue expert and there's probably alot of incorrect information found within my thread , but I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm sure I can collect information after each aircraft is upgraded (Live2air TV) and update my thread accordingly, although, I'd imagine crazydave, would be someone better to advise on such matters.

Dave, just have them link the Virgin Blue Fleet Information page to the FT thread . Simple solution and less maintenance on DJ's part.crazydave98 said:Thanks Wunala Dreaming. I feel a bit embarrased that your post has more information on our fleet than our website (even if the pitches are understated ) - I'll have a word to our guys and see if we can get this level of detail onto our site and kept up to date.
cheers

Yes, way better than those screens above the aisles on many QF aircraft.NM said:The screens look a little on the small side when compared with A330, 777 or 747 IFE screens in economy cabins of many airlines. But as far as 737's go, they are probably going to give a better viewing experience that anything else on offer - especially in the Australian domestic market.
