Live TV on Virgin Blue

Has anyone had the opportunity yet to try Live TV yet? I know you have a 1 in 52 chance of getting the right plane, but thought somebody here might have been lucky to get that plane.

I will defiantely try it when the opportunity arises.

If I knew when the plane was in BNE and doing a (reasonable) route somewhere from there, I would be on it and report back how it goes.

Work is relatively flexible, so could quite easily do a trip somewhere for a report, then back to BNE.

(and yes, I am that mad. Just look at my OzJet report where I took a day off, flew to MEL to try it, and then reported back on it and flew home from SYD!).

Gday Mal,

I saw the live-to-air fitted plane in BNE a few weeks ago (about 7am), so its definitely a visitor.

Maybe post over on the Sydney Airport spotters forum - lots of people there seem to know various aircraft movements etc:

Sydney Airport Message Board :: Index

Look forward to your report :)

cheers
James

'Mad' Mal or JamesF,
Will you be kind enough to forward the thread, or list the flight # and 'fuselage nicknames' of the aircraft with Live TV?
Thanks!:o

We can joke all we want about Virgin and Jetstar, but they have live TV and AVOD respectively. Just goes to show again that QF is way behind the market in customer service, slowly revamping their domestic fleet with 73H's which could have all had AVOD or at least personal IFE. Qantas is becoming a dinosaur. i would rather get an AVOD player or live TV (and so would my kids) than some awful meal supposedly designed by Neil Perry.

Yes, QF sure is a classic "legacy" airline. Even management must doubt that it can reinvent itself so they are starting over with Jetstar.

Thing is that they have the best name in the sky, and they make profit, so why let it slip away. Too many wrong decisions about what the modern customer wants I fear. I rang QF to see if I was going to be supplied an AVOD player for my upcoming trip to NZ on a 73H in Business class and the customer service person had no idea. Just like last year when I asked if the 743's to HNL had laptop power in J, again no idea. And all of these 763's going on intl routes with no decent IFE and no in seat power either, just utterly ridiculous. This is meant to be a premium airline :!:

We now have airlines like Gulf Air with new revamped business and first offering fares return London for under $7000 in First class. Not to mention Emirates fares and companion deals on other Asian carriers. There is only so much loyalty customers will show QF if they don't become part of the real world.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying Qantas have the best name in the sky. Obviously they are very established and have what is perceived to be the "leading" safety record, however a lot of the other established carriers (Like Cathay or even BA) would rate well about QF in most peoples books.

According to three sources ( Sydney Airport Message Board, Airliners.net and Wunala Dreaming's aircraft list, the Live2Air aircraft is VH-VBO (aka Tropical Temptress).

Some pictures are here: Aviation Photos: VH-VBO

I'm sure it comes to Brisbane at least a little bit. Being a 73G, I suspect it doesn't travel many of the major routes too often.

I'm looking into when it may be in BNE, and if I make it onboard will make sure I do a proper report!
