My 20th anniversary with QFF is in 2017. Mine is in the 166 range.
20 long years, and they were good ones, happy ones, sad ones, long ones, and it was not till this year that I made QF PS and will make QF SG soon, end of this Dec.

Oct 93 here...035**** And all I got for my 21st was a downgrade in status!

March 1992 for me. 027xx_X. Can't recall going anywhere so not sure why I even joined then

And another past thread:

<That one brought up the following result:
Agree, we have uncovered curious anomalies.

1986 seems straightforward, with a few data points:
* My +1 (not an AFF member) - Join date July 1986 - QFF 4xx_
* Ozbeachbabe - Join date September 1986 - QFF 8xx_
* Pagingjoan - Join date September 1986 - QFF 9xx_

But Ikara's join date is three years earlier, yet has 8xx_.

In terms of earliest joining date, we seem to have a winner. For lowest number, I guess Ozbeacbabe and Ikara would have to reveal the value of the second X. They may not want to do that online - but maybe, for a chance for the fabulous prize, they could compare notes offline and let us know the outcome? :)>

Any competing bids from newer AFF arrivals?

There must have been a real spike in people joining in Sep 86 if my number is low 8000's (joined 11 Sep) & Paging Joans is 9xx_ for the same month. It was also the same year that TAA became Australian Airlines with the blue roo on the tail.

Just looked at the other historical postings re this, and I think my mate in Perth on 1xx wins! My number being 17xx_ shows me joining in Aug 1991 but I remembered I joined the Flight Deck for a year back in the 80's and obviously kept that number hence being a number slightly lower than PJ and OZB: joining in 1986.:)

As I did a lot of travel back in those days and before tier credits, then I concur that length of membership should be given some acknowledgment. :) (25 years is my recommendation)

Wow how old is your mate Ron & what was his date of joining?

There's a bit of a retro theme happening at QF right now with the latest 738 XZP soon on its ferry flight from Renton to SYD & the comeback of the prawn coughtail.

It would be great to see an article on some of the first 100 frequent flyers - like a 'where are they now' theme. They would all have been TAA pax not QF as their joining dates were pre-merger.

My twenty years is approaching, having joined in July 1995. I was still living in London then so I'm guessing I would have called/wrote to QF's London office? One too many NPPPs have clouded the memory.

Yes, agree, OBB. My number is low 9000s but even so, that means 1000 or so between us. No idea if the numbers were done in blocks at the time. I was Melbourne based, which may - or may not - have made a difference.

Also intrigued to hear of Ron's mate's date of joining, with his three digit FF number. And is he still flying much? Plat One? LTCL?:)

For a while I thought the first 2 non-zero digits corresponded to the year of joining since it works for mine - (0)95 and 1995 respectively... And I remember I sent in a cheque for the joining fee as I don't think there was a way to join for free then?

I think it was $30? Expensive for 1994 if so. And the theory doesn't work for me - (19)45!!!

That's what made me mad....he was 59....4 years younger than me!!! lol. I don't know what date he joined sorry.

He is not really a mate..used the term loosely, we just started chatting at the perth loyalty function. Yes he still flies Qantas, but has also started flying VA, but was also not backward in giving them a serve of of what he thought about the latest changes and no international in Perth. :)

Can't remember what I paid but it was known as TAA Flight Deck Club membership back then which was a paid lounge membership prior to the introduction of a frequent flyer program.

Maybe they had a special introductory offer as I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have forked out $440.00 for it.

ISTR the first vestiges of the scheme did not allow for points retention for more than between 13 and 24 months - one needed to be a really frequent frequent flyer to benefits. No CC earn then.

This changed perhaps 1993 ... just before I joined.

Didn't join until 1998 - which is sort of annoying now as we had already done 2 round the worlds in first and sundry other trips by then - would already be LTG by now if I had. I had a friend who couldn't believe we weren't members given the flying we did, but I couldn't be bothered filling in the forms. He got 5 forms filled them in, got us to sign and write a cheque and he posted them in for us. He has had his reward though as I now know much more about the program than he does and act as his travel agent and FF advisor when he travels....

Only joined QFF in 1997 but was an Australian based member of the BA Executive club for many years before that.

Would love to see that card! And the join date.
Wasn't 1986 the first year of the program in its current form (enhancements aside)?

I don't ever remember paying a joining fee though the old mind may be playing tricks. Not sure we would have forked out money to join up the children but from memory I think we were going to the UK the year I added them. I thought the "pay up to join" came later.
