Would love to see that card! And the join date.
Wasn't 1986 the first year of the program in its current form (enhancements aside)?

It came back to me... my number was given to me when I was given free membership of the "Executive Club" which was created when Compass started flying against Australian. Gave access to upfront seats with the middle seat kept free, and leather bag tags and BP holder.. I paid membership to Flight deck in 1988 and 1989. Anyone else get their membership from the old "executive Club" ?

You lot make me feel young. I joined in 2012

LOL it's all relative! Son is 13, joined 2003 - daughter is 11, joined 2005 ..... they have seen Bronze, Silver, Gold and Plat and.....the downward slide. They are closing in on LTS, lucky buggers! I didn't join until I was 29.

yes the second generation FFs have a great start! Interestingly Master FM was the first of the ankle biters to get to gold status (he is the middle child) but is now languishing in the 5000 status credit region, while Dr FM and Miss FM are well over 6000.

Sounds a little like my relationship with UA.

Had status as a 7 year old. Then lost it and my points were used to fly the family to KOA for a holiday

*I'm not actually mad since my parents had paid for the flights that earned those miles and I got to go on holiday

The WF family joined Feb 1999 with three consecutive numbers in the 21xx_xx range.

Pity most of my flying (1977-91) pre-dated the FF programs. Though I still have the PanAm FF luggage tag. But in the various moves my AA statement from 1992 got tossed

Happy wandering

Fred

I have only been a member since mid 2009, after getting sick of VA(DJ). first year was QC Bronze, 2nd year QC Silver, then dropped back to Bronze and cancelled QC due to decreasing value, after a 6 month lull, right back to Silver, then to Gold for a few months, then Platinum for the last 2 years or so and plan to have WP at this stage until at least mid-2016..

I've raided my kids points/accounts multiply times. They can keep the SC ... the points are mine! :D

I am just coming up to 20 years membership of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program in December and this has me wondering who is the longest serving Frequent Flyer Member?
On an earlier thread I suggested some form of recognition for 20-year QFFs but it must have fallen on deaf ears as mine has now passed. Perhaps pre-Christmas drinks at the Sydney lounge with a lucky door prize of a return trip to LHR in F!

And another past thread:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....among-you-has-longest-43483-2.html#post687168

<That one brought up the following result:
Agree, we have uncovered curious anomalies.

1986 seems straightforward, with a few data points:
* My +1 (not an AFF member) - Join date July 1986 - QFF 4xx_
* Ozbeachbabe - Join date September 1986 - QFF 8xx_
* Pagingjoan - Join date September 1986 - QFF 9xx_

But Ikara's join date is three years earlier, yet has 8xx_.

In terms of earliest joining date, we seem to have a winner. For lowest number, I guess Ozbeacbabe and Ikara would have to reveal the value of the second X. They may not want to do that online - but maybe, for a chance for the fabulous prize, they could compare notes offline and let us know the outcome? :)>

Any competing bids from newer AFF arrivals?

Member since 1988. But my number is 47**4

So not sure how numbering works

Can't remember what I paid but it was known as TAA Flight Deck Club membership back then which was a paid lounge membership prior to the introduction of a frequent flyer program.

Maybe they had a special introductory offer as I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have forked out $440.00 for it.

I bought Australian Flight deck. Was only going to buy 2 years, Mrs GPH decided that the higher spend was a better deal for life time
Still have the card wallet

There would have been a joining spike in Oct 2001 after Ansett's demise.

Cheers

The numbering system was a combination the Flight Deck and QFF numbering at December 1992.

Here is my letter:

Pity my number kept was my Flight Deck 00566xx (join date Feb 1989) as my original number looks better:

I have a comprehensive Qantas file from 1989 (as well as an archived Australian Airlines file) - every statement, FF card, letter sent or received (where I deem necessary to keep). Call me a FF nerd ;)

Yep. You're an FF nerd. ;)

It's not just the keeping its the finding!

I received Qantas Club life membership back in 1996 for my 21st birthday.

Even though it has been enhanced alot since then it is a gift that still keeps giving

Actually, the longest serving QFF member (not an AFF one though) is Mel Gottlieb. I would think he is QFF 1 and probably been bestowed Lifetime Plat
