Next up, Orana. This place gets great reviews and charges for it at $240pp .... but it just wasn’t worth it. They certainly present a bill for fine dining, but that’s where it ends IMO. The flavours, setting, service - all pretty disappointing. One of the worse meals we’ve had - ever.

In the end, I just stopped taking photos - I think we endured another dozen or so plates. Couldn’t wait to get out of the place.

My recommendation - avoid the place!

Just released I never got around to completing our trip.... will follow up with some delicious meals enjoyed at Maggie Beer, and Jasmine.

Anyway, we're heading back to ADL in the new year and thinking about staying at The Louise (Barossa Valley) for two nights .... know it's not strictly Adelaide, but since you guys are the brain trust of all things SA - any opinions on The Louise?

I've never stayed there but the food was excellent but that was the previous chef who is now at Restaurant

I headed over to Adelaide and the Barossa so Mrs_G could do the cricket.

Henty Farm and FermentAsian were outstanding - next time I will stay in Tanunda for a night and hit the FA winelist hard.

I wandered around the Adelaide Central market and ate a dozen colossal oysters and a sea urchin; and then roast duck on Gouger St. for lunch.

But the surprise of the visit was an Italian restaurant near where I parked the car called Osteria Oggi. It was outstanding, and I really recommend it. I will be back.

Both very good restaurants and only about 15-20 minutes from home so we have been frequenting more restaurants in the Barossa lately

Tks to mrs.dr.ron for starting this thread - couple of Qs if I may:
1. Is Hilton best Accom selection if we are wanting hotel with EL?
2. How does Hilton treat DIA Members RE blast?
3. There is no hotel from Marriott stable in ADL?
4. Best steak restaurant in ADL?
5. Best Italian restaurant in ADL?
TIA 👍

My fav Italian restaurants are ;
Osteria Oggi , ruby red flamingo, Nido, Madre, enzos.
Steak restaurants are ;
Gauchos, cork and cleaver , sosta’s , Hereford Beefstouw.

Question 3 - not at the moment AFAIK. Westin will (allegedly) open in 2022 in the new GPO tower. In 2015 it was announced that Sheraton would open in 2019, but it wasn't built. At least the GPO tower has been built and some tenants have moved in, so maybe Westin will too.

Sofitel will have the best CL in Adelaide when it opens but a few delays have meant the opening has been pushed out until the end of the year at the earliest

DIA with Hilton, PLAT with Accor, PLAT Elite with IHG* - not really concerned with price so IYHOs which will give best exp?

* I still cannot get my head around fact that you cannot get lounge access
