Many thanks people for your input and comments.

I am now reconsiled to the fact that my points are lost.

So. I will now cut up my Qantas F/F card and never willingly step into a Qantas aircraft again. Perhaps I might even send the remains to Mr Joyce.

Is the opposition (Velocity) any better?

Regards
TDU

Quite a dramatic gesture from someone who is at fault. You should go back and read the T&C's of the QFF program, btw Velocity points also expire.

Qantas and also Virgin are not that interested in people who fly once every blue moon.

Well I can see the parallel between the what the OP is suggesting he do with his card ! It shows the same loyalty as QF did to him after what was many many flights to accrue that many points ! " always cheeper to keep a client than to keep chasing new ones "
What if the OP has been seriously ill ? Or had a close member of family he had to look after and in so doing had to rearrange his flight pattern?

Or earned his points via his cc.

If I had to look after a family member who was ill enough to need care for 18 months I would not be concerned at all about FF points!

The short answer would be no.

Now I could have sworn Velocity points did not expire. Oh well.

Which is totally wrong given the current situation.

9.1.4 If a Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account is inactive for 36 consecutive months the Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Points will expire. This will occur if the Member has not earned, redeemed, or transferred Points to or from their Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account for a period of 36 consecutive months or if the Member is not participating (as a contributor or beneficiary) in a Family Pool. A Member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Account will remain active in the event that their Points expire due to inactivity.

Velocity requires some sort of activity every 3 years
