Lounge Access changes pending that affect all?

I don't know if anyone has thought about this re: JQ Business Max fare expecting Qantas Lounge access if QF have closed the lounge due to last departing QF flight, but I find it interesting that it is stated as where available (implying a geographic limitation) vs when available (a broader time and geographic limitation).

Either way - if I paid JQ inflated 'Business' Max fares I'd be pretty pissed off to find part of the product unavailable. Another case of "Qantas - A Jetstar Group Airline" (when it suits us)

That was my argument, given that as far as I can think of, are there not Qantas clubs and/or lounge facilities at all airport in AU where jetstar biz equipped aircraft depart from?

As someone who likes to split hairs with the best of them, I like you're thinking.

Well I haven't had any response as yet from JQ or QF on the lounge in Melbourne closing early if a Business Max fare has been bought. I am going to get nit picky on this and keep chasing it up! Call it a small fight for not much reward but this is just going to happen more and more at various lounges around the country so the quieter people stay the easier it is for them to do so. Thus I thought it was worth trying to make a fuss now!

I - and I am sure many others - appreciate your time and efforts on this travelislife - we all shouldn't make it easy for companies to penny pinch their way out of this stuff - it only gives tactit approval for more of the same in the future....

Funny how there is no sign of Red Roo when there is a question to answer, explanation to make or apology to give.

Well I got home last night and there was a letter in the mail from Jetstar for me. It stated that the lounge was open and available until last departure.

So I went back to the Qantas website and low and behold someone is listening cause it has changed! Before it stated it closed at 17:30 every night, but this has now changed to 18:30 on the nights of the direct MEL-DPS route being Tues/Thur/Fri/Sat. So at least someone is listening, but it seems odd they don't think about these things before publicly putting information out there.

Good outcome for all concerned. I assume that the team managing the QF website are not connected to the team managing the JQ website/business.

We certainly seem to be the beta testers for QF at the moment...

lol. of COURSE they're not connected! they never are when it comes to anything that might benefit a passenger! :)

however... a good outcome for the lounge remiaining open!

Pleased this has been cleared up and apologies I missed this one.
If you ever want to bring an issue to my attention please PM me. I am happy to push for a resolution and keep you all updated when I can.
Travelislife, thanks for taking the time to highlight the matter.

to be absolutely clear this is ONLY referring to the opening of the business class lounge to cater for the JQ services to DPS.

The enduring matter regarding access to BA lounges by Qantas Club members has not, as far as I'm aware, been properly communicated to members.

I notice even today there has been a subtle rewording of the access conditions (removing the words 'code share services' and, IIRC, adding flights via Hong Kong.

The new wording is:

Qantas Club Members travelling between Australia and the UK via Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong on Qantas or British Airways services, or travelling on other British Airways flights connecting with these services, can access the British Airways Terrace, Executive and Galleries Lounges. Access to the British Airways Lounge in New York is also available for Qantas Club Members travelling on the QF108. We are currently working with British Airways on the recent changes to their lounge access policy.

Is this now the final wording? What evidence is required to show we are connecting with services? Do we need to retain boarding passes? Can we stopover in these ports and still use the lounges at the European port of origin if this is not LHR?

For example, BRU-LHR-SYD - ok for lounge access at BRU and LHR.

JFK-LHR-SYD - access at JFK and LHR

But SYD, stopover, LHR-BRU or vv, can we use the lounges at BRU and LHR?

And LHR T5 was not even showing up on the drop down menu for Lounge Locations this morning! T3 only. [Sorry. Can't check at the moment to see if this is still the case.]

It still looks like if you are on QF395 code share MEL-NAN operated by Air Pacific you have no lounge access as a WP even if flying Business unless Air Pacific has contracted someone else to provide lounge access for the 23.30 departure.

They probably have contracted someone else, but then it would only be for their 'business' customers.

The way I interpret the wording I would say no. And we all know how willing BA gate keepers are to let people in if they have the slightest idea that they might not have access.
