Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hi all

We are flying from Hong Kong to Chengdu in China on Cathay Dragon KA886 departing at 10am booked via QF.

I am QF Gold, as well as having Priority Pass via AMEX Platinum. Which i believe allows you to guest two people in Priority Pass. As well as AMEX Platinum.

My partner has no QF or OW status but also has Priority Pass via AMEX Platinum as well as the AMEX Platinum.

We are a family of two adults and three kids.

And so just wondering what lounges we could all access on departure at Hong Kong and which one/s would be best.

OW lounges? AMEX lounges? Priority Pass lounges?

Thanks, motef

HKG is a lounge bonanza. I’d go to the closest CX J lounge to your departure gate. I did a lounge crawl (inc the Flounges which sadly you won’t have access to but are amazing) and every CX lounge is amazing. There are plenty to choose from.

I had Priority Pass a few years ago and tried those lounges they were were average at best.

Im not sure of the gate yet so dont know which lounge will be closest?

I will steer clear of the Priority Pass lounges.

Any tips on best Cathay Lounges?

This is all assuming you are not travelling in a class that provides lounge access:

QF are fairly generous wrt to lounge access with children. So you guest your wife into the QF lounge and the children aren't counted as guests.
CX are not so generous. So you can either guest your wife or choose your favourite child. :) Of course you may get a sympathetic lounge angel.
The Amex lounge that I visited recently looked pretty good, so Amex/PP is likely your best option.

If you can get into a CX lounge, try for the Pier J lounge. It is large with a variety of different areas.

As we are in Y I think then the QF lounge would be our best option.

Are you getting those times off the QF website? If so I think they are wrong as my brother was there only a few weeks ago and said the lounge opens at 11:30am

Your brother was correct. The qantas lounge at Christchurch opens at 1130 as i am there now. Website incorrect

So we went to both The Centurion Lounge and the QF Lounge

The Centurion Lounge had Mumm Champagne and kept coming to our seats and refilling. The seating was limited but the breakfast food was amazing

The QF lounge only had sparkling white, the food selection as not as good but the seating was much better.

Thankyou for all the assistance

Hi All,

My wife and I are flying F award with Emirates to DBX and then J award to LGW (originally this was F until aircraft change dropped to J).

Do you know if we'll be able to access the Emirates F lounge in DBX or will we get redirected to the J lounge?

Thanks,
PK

Hi team,

I booked a domestic VA business class points redemption the other day for a family member. I was aware (late in the booking) that the first leg was in economy only. However I still expected they would get lounge access at both airports (the 'Choose Fare' pop up says lounge is part of the booking). However, they were denied access for the first leg - Virgin claiming it was an ineligible sector.

I was surprised by this and can't find anything anywhere that confirms one way or the other (aside from the 'choose fare' pop up). Could anyone offer further insights?

Thanks very much...

I'd suggest you send a complaint to VA based on the choose fare pop up you saw. Did you get a screen shot?

Thanks serfty. I've just gone in and grabbed the screen shots. I did complain and they were happy to give me a few thousand points as 'goodwill', not accepting any blame for the error. I'll consider moving on? Not really happy... Thx!

I'm booked on WLG-MEL-CBR on SQ, with MEL-CBR being VA operated, SQ codeshare.

If I have some VA lounge passes (I have both physical and digital on my Velocity account), does the SQ codeshare affect whether are they spendable at the MEL lounge?

I am travelling SYD->DXB->CDG on EK metal with QF flight numbers on Saturday with my wife and 10 month old son flying Y. I am a Qantas Club member. My understanding is that I am only able to take one guest into the lounge in Dubai and that children count as guests. My questions are:

1) has anyone had any recent luck with taking a child (infant) in addition to another guest?

2) any knowledge on whether I will be able to pay for access for my son if I can't get him in for free? Do I have to be a Skywards member (not currently)?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I really cant say. The https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/...ul-international/lounge-terms-and-conditions/ indicate this under section 7:

In order to access the lounge, Single Entry Guests must provide at the reception desk of the lounge on the day of their departure:
...

their same day onward Virgin Australia itinerary or boarding pass; ...
By travelling on a SQ*VA codeshare you will have a "Virgin Australia boarding pass"...

You are correct about children officially counting as Guests: Eligibility and access | Qantas

I can't advise on 1) but with 2), EK do sell lounge entry, but going by the pricing you may not Qualify. If they do permit such entry, it may be complimentary with you child being under 2yo or perhaps USD55 . (What are the rules and charges for airport lounge access in Dubai? | Emirates Australia) (Lounge access Terms and Conditions | Membership Tiers | Emirates Australia)
