Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Does that include OWE's?
No, they‘re still getting access as per normal OW rules. Sorry, should limited my comment to OWS / non QF J.

There’s been a bit of discussion here on CX, JL, QR J PAX turned away from the 1st Lounge while the J Lounge has been closed. Hopefully the J Lounge will reopen soon as things ramp back up.

So hard to get an answer from QF, so I'm trying here!!

In two weeks I am flying Y on QF metal out of SYD T1. I am QF lifetime GOLD. Do I get access to any lounge pre-departure or are all QF Gold left out in the cold at SYD T1?
I forgot to mention, would it make any difference if I am flying on an AA flight number on that QF metal with my lifetime gold! ie, QF 1st Lounge if it is open?

It shouldn’t make any difference. You are QF Gold flying on a OW flight.
You have access to the QF F Lounge as QF Gold because the J lounge isn’t open.
Having an AA flight number on the QF ticket is irrelevant.

Quick question re VA domestic lounge access at ADL. I'm heading back to Launceston Saturday morning and I would like to meet up with someone who is not travelling. Am I still able to guest a non-traveller? I'm VA Platinum and flying J but am wondering if there's are any lingering Covid restrictions regarding guests without a BP?

I don’t know if there is any restrictions but in the many times I’ve been through there in the last few months you scan yourself in and use the touch screen kiosk to add number of guests. No intervention or checking by staff at all

Thanks for that. I haven't been through since before Christmas and at that stage they were still asking for a BP. My daughter was with me then and they asked for her BP. She was also flying so the "no BP" question didn't arise.

Would definitely pay to check it out, would hate for you to get stuck.

Thanks. That's how I read it also. My concern is that they changed a lot of access rules for Covid. It's not happened to myself, but I've been behind people who got caught out this way, back when they were not allowing any guests.
I might try calling them but I always find Virgin help lines difficult (language barriers).

That web page has the content regarding no arrivals access BUT at the same time indicates guest are OK, older versions had content banning guesting. This indicates the page is up to date and guest access has been reinstated.

Your only issue could be a lounge agent who "missed the memo". In which case, show them the web page.

Checking on ideas for best *A Lounge LHR T2?

Travelling SQ J x2 early May.

Also both have A*G curtesy of NZ SM. Although I assume J trumps *G?

I scanned in at the BNE Lounge entry kiosk on Thursday, and then did my QLD "I'm Vaccinated" scan, and no one asked or stopped me for heading in on arrival. I didn't stop to allow anyone to ask me, mind you.

Not necessarily... on Lufthansa their star G lounges (senator) trump their business class lounges. Same with Eva Air. Many include all pax in equal lounges (ANA/OZ/UA/AC for example). SQ relegates star gold below business class, with their KrisFlyer/*G lounge in Singapore.

Yep. I’m aware of those nuances (especially SQ in SIN - always managed to avoid the Gold lounge - even when I went there by accident and I was promptly escorted to the SK Lounge 🤣).

But I was specifically asking about LHR. I missed the chance to try the then new UA 1st lounge after a TG 1st redemption didn’t leave from T2 (delayed relocation from T3 where we used the Swiss Lounge - now the QF lounge!).

One review suggest AC is best, followed by UA, then SQ and LH last.

To answer my own question, no issues accessing VA ADL lounge with non-travelling guest. She was asked for a BP but I said "not travelling" and we were welcomed in.
Lounge was busiest I've seen it in a while (9am) but calmed down before I left (11.20am).

What is the current situation with guest passes for a QF NB flying international on QF metal tomorrow. The pass has been transferred and accepted on line as part of the booking but I understand that they will be refused access to the F lounge because the pass is for the J lounge that I believe is still closed. Is that still correct or has there been any policy change. Should they try to get in anyway - and accept a knock back ?

As of two days ago they were not accepting lounge passes. How has the pass been "accepted on line as part of the booking"? My understanding is that you can only link passes for routes that enable lounge access. For example I could link a pass to the BNE-SYD and LHR-SYD-BNE legs of a journey but not the outbound SYD-LHR leg due to the lounge situation in Sydney.

A third party friend transferred the lounge pass to the pax. The pass provider received an acknowledgement that "Your complimentary invitation was successfully transferred" but they have nothing else. It does not mean it will be accepted only that QF allowed it to be be transferred. QF are happy to take the pass even if they may not honour it.

My understanding is that you can transfer the pass to another frequent flyers account, not to the flight booking. It is up to the pax flying to link the pass to the appropriate trip or leg of the journey. If the trip or leg does not have a lounge available or accessible, it should not allow the pass to be linked to that trip or leg. Passes can be linked to the leg or trip under the pax's frequent flyer account - lounge invitations.

This. The flying pax needs to go to this page, login and attach the pass to the specific leg they would like lounge access prior to.

Note the page currently states:

The following lounges are currently unavailable for complimentary one-time lounge pass linking:
  • Sydney International First Lounge
  • Melbourne International First Lounge
  • Brisbane International Lounge
  • Gold Coast Qantas Club
  • Darwin International Transit Lounge
  • Partner operated lounges in Los Angeles or London Heathrow
  • New Zealand lounges
