Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

I don't suppose anyone has insight into whether a passenger has access to the BA LHR T5 CCR in any of the following situations?

1) Arriving AA F T3, connecting same day to IB-coded and operated J from T5.

2) Arriving AA F T3, connecting same day to BA-coded/IB-operated J from T5.

3) Arriving AA-coded/BA-operated F T5, connecting same day to IB-coded and operated J from T5.

4) Arriving AA-coded/BA-operated F T5, connecting same day to BA-coded/IB-operated J from T5

5) Departing AA-coded/BA-operated F T5.

Incidentally, I called BA's Australian number which I think may be managed by Mindpearl. I was first told that as a oneworld Emerald I'd have access, period, then later told that the only way to get access is to be flying F.

3, 4 and 5 should all give CCR access.
3,4 due to inbound on BA F metal, 5 as outbound on BA F metal.

I am not up to date with the AA/BA agreement but I suspect you will struggle arriving at T5 with an AA F inbound BP from T3.

Thanks for that. Your view aligns pretty much exactly with a member on FlyerTalk. I've emailed BA but I'm going to need to make a reservation well before I suspect someone will get back to me (if at all).

Hi, apologies if this has been addressed, does anyone know if a Pax flying J on QF1 (no status) can guest at Syd F lounge (whilst the J lounge is closed). Guest would be flying on the same flight with an infant.

Trying to get my lovely wife lounge access in March prior to her SYD-LHR as I can no longer fly on that date and supposedly lounge passes are not valid.

Cheers

Hi geoffro_22 - is your wife is flying J and wants to guest another person in, who is travelling with an infant, or are you looking for someone to guest your wife and infant into the lounge as they are travelling in another class than J or F, and you can no longer do that?

Hi, my wife and infant are flying PE on QF1 in March, I was meant to be flying with them but circumstances changed. I know someone who is flying J on the same flight but does not have status. It's a little unclear if they can guest my wife in or not.

In normal circumstance they could guest them into the J lounge, but due to this being closed and the F lounge being the only one open it's unclear if this is still an option.

Hi - from what I can tell, although lounge invitations are not being accepted for now, the J traveller should still be able to guest another person who is travelling on the same flight (+ your infant, who should not be counted as a guest), however the capacity limits may be a challenge. Fingers crossed for them, and hope it's a good flight up!

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks a lot Matt. I'll keep an eye out for any threads that either confirm or deny as well. Yeah, I think I'll be making up a lot for leaving her to travel alone with the young one, especially on the DRW-LHR leg. Colouring in, Screen time and headphones for him will hopefully do the trick 🤞🤞

I have a friend flying in from LHR in Y on QF2 with no OneWorld Status. Can I give him a Complimentary Lounge Invitation to use? I assume not, but the wording is a little confusing.

Specifically Qantas states (emphasis mine);
We know that access to our lounges is an important part of your journey. The following lounges are currently unavailable for complimentary one-time lounge pass linking:
  • Sydney International First Lounge
  • Melbourne International First Lounge
  • Brisbane International Lounge
  • Gold Coast Qantas Club
  • Darwin International Transit Lounge
  • Partner operated lounges in Los Angeles or London Heathrow
  • New Zealand lounges
However, the lounge currently open at LHR is not a partner lounge, it's a Qantas lounge. Is this just leftover wording from when Qantas was using a partner lounge (the BA lounge as I recall), or does it mean that the invitations cannot be used at the QF LHR lounge?

This is very poorly worded given Qantas operates its own lounge, but I suspect it does mean complimentary passes cannot be used as the London lounge listing page does mention 'capacity restrictions, physical distancing requirements and changes to our food and beverage service offerings' are in place.

Having said that, there is no harm in transferring the pass to your friend to see whether it can be linked to their booking. Worst case they can't use it and transfer it back to you.

That’s changed recently and the London QF Lounge is accepting passes

“Complimentary Lounge Invitations will not be accepted at all lounges. Lounges which are currently accepting Complimentary Lounge Invitations include; The Qantas International London Lounge.”

QANTAS

If it helps, I have flights booked BNE-SYD-DRW-LHR and return. In my complimentary lounge portal it will allow me to link these passes to the BNE-SYD, LHR-SYD and SYD-BNE legs only. These appears to be in line with enabling access at LHR however not enabling access to the Sydney lounge as it is currently using the F lounge which is ineligible.

Thanks for this good information.

Qantas is very inconsistent across their website as per usual. The statement "Lounges which are currently accepting Complimentary Lounge Invitations include; The Qantas International London Lounge.” is quite dumb, why list just one lounge? Wouldn't it make sense to simply have a list of every lounge accepting lounge invitations somewhere?

Another question, can anyone confirm the Sydney International First Lounge is accepting guests from passengers who usually cannot access the first lounge? I should be able to bring in a guest when I'm flying J (and also Qantas Club), right? The Qantas website doesn't say anything to the contrary but you know how it is.

So hard to get an answer from QF, so I'm trying here!!

In two weeks I am flying Y on QF metal out of SYD T1. I am QF lifetime GOLD. Do I get access to any lounge pre-departure or are all QF Gold left out in the cold at SYD T1?

Earlier reports suggest that you’ll get access to QF 1st Lounge if on QF flight.

I'd assume you'd have access to the Biz lounge as a QF Gold, or the First lounge if Biz is closed.

"While the Sydney and Melbourne International Business Lounges are closed, Qantas Club members and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to access the International First lounge if capacity limits haven’t been met."

QF Biz is currently closed and therefore creating a (One) world of hurt for non QF J and OW status PAX not getting access to the QF 1st Lounge.

I like this reply best!! To me, this is pretty clear and emphatic that as QF Gold, I WILL have access to the 1st lounge in SYD international, thanks guys.

The SYD First Lounge - If it is open.

Sydney - International First Lounge (T1) | Qantas.com

Lounge opening hours are from 4:30am when the Sydney to Delhi (QF67) is in operation, for all other times the lounge opens from 6:30am-11:00am. The lounge reopens again daily from 12:45pm until the last scheduled Qantas flight departure.
