Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hey hey - SG Flying QF itinerary in Dec, on QF35 J to SIN transiting to a 3K flight on the same itinerary (ticketed as QF5xx_). Would I have access to the SATS (QF Partner) or the QF (assuming it opens by the time I travel) Lounge on my ticket/status?

Hi all,

I have an upcoming flight where I'll be flying to Melbourne in business with transit to a QantasLink flight in economy. In Melbourne do I have access to the business lounge, or do I only have access to Qantas Club (as I'm a Qantas Club member)?

Am you get business lounge access if you have an international first/business flight and transit to economy domestically, but haven't seen anything regarding domestic business to economy.

Hi guys. On Dec 14th I’m flying NAN to MEL via SYD. First leg NAN to SYD is in J on Fiji airways metal. Next leg is SYD to MEL in Economy on QF.

Will I have any lounge access in Syd domestic since my previous flight was in J and on the same booking/ticket? Or do I need to link a lounge pass I have for any lounge access in SYD to MEL leg.

Are your flights on FJ or QF code? If it’s QF, I believe you get lounge access. FJ probably not.

The Qantas SIN business lounge has opened.

You should be able to use the lounge based on your status before your Jetstar flight (assuming it is open).

Apart from AIRwin's information above, if you are arriving and leaving from the same terminal, your arrival boarding pass should get you lounge access, at least in my experience.

There are three methods of gaining arrivals access to the Qantas domestic J lounges:

- Be a Qantas Platinum or Platinum One member.
- Be arriving in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane on an overnight flight (in Business) from Perth.
- Be connecting from an international long haul (5+hr) flight operated by a Oneworld carrier with an onward short-haul Qantas flight in economy (see oneworld Lounge Access for First Class or Business Class Customers on this page)

Simply holding a J boarding pass won't provide for arrivals access otherwise.

Thanks for all of your replies. Looks like I'll be in the business lounge anyway as per AIRWin's post. Will see how I go!

Anyone know what lounge CX J gets to use in Sydney - flying out this weekend.
are the CX lounges open in HK?

Normally the QF J lounge but if it’s still closed head to the QF 1st Lounge. Enjoy - hopefully not too crowded.

HKG lounges are supposed be open. Last reports were seperate lounges for transit PAX.

I wouldn't 100% bank on this - someone on the Frequent Flyers Australia FB group reported that their QR J ticket didn't get them into QF F a couple of weeks ago, and I believe QR were contracted to use the QF J lounge in Sydney (at least that's what the oneworld lounges directory suggests)

But this could be QF giving the finger to QR, maybe they will be friendlier to CX pax.

Confirming this - a friend travelled through recently. Transit pax could only access Wing J, no showers.

Or it could have been one of those dodgy QR tix that doesn’t come with lounge access? Not an issue for status pax but pretty ordinary for the rest.

Great news. I thought there was no lounge access because all the articles I've read only says QF F lounge is open and accepting QF J & F customers only. No one ever mention about the other partner tickets.

Shower would have been good after night flight and having a 5hour transit starting at 5am.

Looks like Cathay might be shifting things around a bit.... assuming you aren't flying to mainland China, you would be able to access Pier Business according to this page:

Wing First remains open but only accessible to those departing HKG or transiting from China.

Pier J definitely has showers within the facility (quite nice ones too) but it's unclear if they are currently open or not. I believe you can pay your way into Plaza Premium (or flash an Amex Plat if you have one) for a shower.

This Youtube video posted on 4 Dec strangely skips from check-in directly to boarding with no mention of lounges, but you could drop a comment to ask OP whether he tried..

Thanks for that @sudoer. I messaged the youtuber and he confirmed that Cathay doesn't pay QF to use F lounge so there is no lounge access. I was looking forward to have Christmas dinner at the F lounge.

I just need a shower so we will visit Plaza Premium if anything. Finally get to use the Plat card...

I would ask at checkin what lounge you can use. It would be a shame if CX aren’t providing lounge access at all in SYD (at least until the QF J lounge reopens).
