Lounge Access on Arrival as QF Elite?

Nope you would need an onward flight to clear TSA.
Damn, wouldn't have minded a shower on arrival. Well I'll check it out the next day. Currently planning to land then layover for 22h to pig out before on flying to IAD.

It used to be possible to go landside at DFW without a boarding pass in order to access the F&B facilities. I did it once when staying at the Grand Hyatt. I can't remember the exact process but it did require some ID and getting some kind of pass. I guess it's possible the process is still available. Might be worth checking.

For the US, you need to prove id as well as have a BP to access the gate area, so I have read.
But if a person has a dl with the *, it can be linked to their FF program of choice, ie, the id with the * data/details are in the FF system of the airline a person is flying with, then they don't need id, as the BP would show id has been checked, so I have read too.
We have it easy here in Aust, for Aust dom flights.

I do not understand any of this.

Arrivals: Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer members may access Qantas Domestic Business or Qantas Club lounges upon arrival, if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar (JQ, 3K or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU) or a oneworld member airline marketed and operated flight number on your ticket.

ΩΩ Lounge access

Presumably this means if I arrive in Melbourne from Dubai or Denpasar or …. I could walk over to the Dom terminal, pass through security and shower on arrival at the J lounge

I've often thought of doing this when arriving in Sydney after an overseas trip, but always chickened out because I'd feel stupid putting a large suitcase or two through domestic security and lugging these into the lounge. (I don't like leaving baggage idling on the carousel.)

Yep. Have arrived on JQ NRT-CNS and used the CNS domestic QP shower before heading into town for the day.

Yes, I have done it twice off MH at MEL this year ... checked luggage is not an issue for me as I basically don't.

What on earth are you even TRYING to say here?

And why are you commenting on procedures and situations in a country that you've, AFAIK, never visited - and certainly not on a regular basis?

*scratches head*

anyway, there are some exceptions in the US to get airside access that I am aware of, but they require specific situations and organisation/permission. As an example, some events such as the "Cranky Dorkfest" have had airside tours at LAX organised for groups that are vetted by CBP and allowed through security as approved.

There are also "gate passes" available for those escorting UM's, people with special needs etc but these aren't designed so folks can just go use lounges of course.

Of course it was all so much easier pre-9/11. This one time, at a certain SoCal location, I was invited by a manager of a major legacy airline to visit and do a tour of the area, including ramp and even winding up on a buggy pausing as a BA D10 passed by (among others). Wild

Those were the days ! :D

I once saw someone try and put a large suitcase through security scanners as if it was carry-on. They were invited to check it in.

Just looking for confirmation that On Arrival Access of QF domestic lounges is still a benefit for WP … it seems to disappeared from the QF Lounge Benefits for Platinum members.

I tried a couple of months ago and it worked but you have raised my doubts. I always seem to arrive on the last flight so the lounges are shutting down.

Yeah there’s so much info to go through sometimes it’s too too much

I had looked this up myself as I was variously WP and now dunked to SG so I did get a last hurrah on arrivals in February before that happened

Still get to Nick in there ahead of flights as I took up a number of CHeap J flights.
It will get me over the LTG sometime later this year
