Love at First (Lounge) sight - MEL/SYD Autumn 2015 menus

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound good at all. I am not aware of any anecdotes of RSA "enforcements" on a solo traveller but maybe time will tell.

My next MEL visit is in July and I haven't been there for 18 months. Shame, because the smaller size tends to lead to a more personalised level of service compared to SYD. With SYD being closer, that may not necessarily be a bad thing now...

Does that mean they have taken away the self pour wine in MEL? Just that small "buffet" station next to the fridge?
If anyone is going through MEL soon, could you take some photos of the self serve area?

When we where there on Saturday that area was bear as in no wines however the beer was available for self selection and serve.

I was in Mel F lounge late January. Pretty much the only person there in the early-mid afternoon, travelling solo. Would have had 4 wines over 2 sittings is the dining area, and maybe 3 whiskeys over the 4 hours in the lounge. Refills rarely offered but always done. Buffet area was closed - no food out (maybe because so quiet). Didn't see any wines out but pretty sure fridge with beer was open.

Mrs Rugby and I had good session in the Flounge yesterday before heading across to AKL. For starters we shared the salt and pepper squid, sashimi and the Szechuan pork with tofu. For mains we both had the fettuccine which was rich and lovely. The Szechuan pork was great too. The wine in the decanter was the clonakilla Shiraz but I stuck with the prelude Chardonnay. We both had treatments in the day spa. The service during lunch was good, but I did notice that getting drinks in other parts of the lounge is more difficult than previously, as others have mentioned. I miss some of the old staff regulars - boo to outsourcing. But it's still one of my most favourite places in the world - I love doing a fast walk, with wine class in hand, down to the southern end to watch the A380 take off.
