Thursday 18 July

Dropped my travel companion at Prague airport As he was heading home from there. 12 days on the road taking in Poland, Czechia and Slovakia.
Schengen zoners now so no borders in place = Real easy travel
And got to see where the ancestors hailed from

And now it was a resumption of the long standing last remaining kms of the Berlin Wall trial not finished in 2019. 4 years and 10 months later

So this was the earlier TR

FROM Lichtenberg down south to Schönefeld airport was a dubious track like “doesn’t really exist” detours and the like cause it’s outback.

And with forecast weather of 35 C plus just not my thing

However, there’s the track from the canal just south of Berlin (Baumschulenweg) where the Sonnenalle checkpoint was located

Up through Treptower and the Oberbaumstraße bridge, east side gallery onto Engelbrecken and the streets of Berlin to Checkpoint Charlie onto Potsdam platz, Brandenburger gate , up the spree past another former Grenzturm just past Invalidnestrasse and right turn right turn long walk to Nordbahnhof before left turn and back to the starting point on Bernauerstrasse

Still some distance to go
However to do it justice and to best curate all the photos and wall maps etc is a task I believe best undertaken in a new thread once I’m home in Australia mid-September

That 'Australian' restaurant in Dresden must be popular. It was there when we first visited Dresden in 2011.

Yes it was classic

I did wonder if they were gonna re-badge Ayer’s Rock as Uluṟu but that’s probably more complex for them in that location than we might to wishfully think.
