Got an email from Lufthansa (I'm a Miles & More member), below.

You can still switch to Travel ID before 31.01.2023

Dear RooFlyer

Lufthansa iD is now being replaced by the new, versatile Travel ID. This means that in future you can benefit from numerous options that will make traveling with the Lufthansa Group airlines even more pleasant for you.

Have you already linked your Lufthansa iD with your Miles & More account and would like to continue using your preferred email address as your login? So that you can still use your email address at all Lufthansa Group airlines and Miles & More touchpoints even after switching to the single Travel ID, please follow these steps:
  1. Start your switch to the new Travel ID now.
  2. Enter your Miles & More Service Card number as identification.
  3. When you switch, you can set up your preferred email address again as your login address.

Please note: Lufthansa iD will be discontinued on 31.01.2023 and any existing data will be deleted at this time. Secure your Lufthansa iD data and be sure to switch now!

Yours sincerely,

Your Lufthansa Team

I see they say:

All the benefits at a glance

  • Your personal details will be saved in your new Travel ID, so you don’t have to enter them again when you book flights in future.
  • With Travel ID you’ll always have an overview of all upcoming flights.
  • Let us know your preferences and we’ll make a note of them for your future flights.
  • With Travel ID we can send you personalised offers and information.
  • In the event of flight disruptions we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
  • Your personal Travel ID offers you the option of logging in to all the Lufthansa Group airlines as well as your Miles & More profile.

Does this add any useful amenity when travelling occasionally with LH Group? I have a couple of flights with them coming up (the long haul SQ code-share and going to credit them all to SQ KF). @Berlin ?

I was likewise sceptical what benefit they’re actually trying to provide. I just booked the family some flights on Brussels Airlines and Swiss (both part of the LH group) and noticed both wanted me to populate more data into the Travel ID.

They already have the important info from the booking. I guess it’s like every FF program that just wants to harvest more data about you (and which will eventually be breached by some hackers…)

I remained a guest; as an occasional user of the LH group I couldn’t see any real benefit.

LH just wants to consolidate the IT-Systems of their group airlines - so there is basically one platform an one login for OS, LX, LH (Miles&More). So one account for all LH-Group airlines.
It was odd to have different logins in the LH or M&M page. So if you are new, you will have the new login. If you still have an old login you will be forced to move over to the new system. I tried to move to then new login, but it failed. The customer frontend of the LH website is just a pain, so it is an other episode of the things that won't work from the beginning. Data protection should not be a concern. The GDPR Data Protection in the EU is very strict, and the are really complying. The Login should make booking an managing of your booking more easy.
