That is not a bad J price at all.

Is there an MPM?

Firstly, my previous J class price was actually the second cheapest fare
level. There is a $6043 + tax. Not bad at all.

Is there an MPM?

No MPM - just routing restrictions as follows:

LH:
ADL/BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-SIN vv
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-BKK vv
MEL/SYD-LAX vv
SYD-SFO vv
Asia/JNB-FRA/MUC vv
Canada/Usa-DUS/FRA/MUC vv
Sth America - FRA/MUC vv
FRA/DUS/MUC-Europe vv

AC:
SYD-YVR vv

CA:
MEL/SYD-SHA/BJS vv

CX:
ADL/BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-HKG vv

QF:
BNE/MEL/SYD-LAX vv
SYD-SFO vv
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-HKG vv
ADL/BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-SIN vv
PER/SYD-TYO vv
SYD-BKK vv
SYD-JNB vv
SYD-BUE vv
SYD-SHA vv

SA:
PER-JNB vv

SQ:
ADL/BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-SIN vv

TG:
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-BKK vv

UA:
MEL/SYD-LAX vv
SYD-SFO vv

VS:
SYD-HKG vv

MU:
MEL/SYD-SHA vv

Surface sectors:
Permitted between LAX/SFO/YVR and any LH online point in
North America
Permitted between BJS/BKK/HKG/SIN/SHA/TYO and any LH online
point in Asia excluding Indian Subcontinent.
Permitted between BUE and LH online point in South America.
Permitted within Europe.

So there's the routing restriction as well as the 16 segment limits.

I see stopovers are only limited by the permitted transfers (which could be each segment), but other than one on the routing as well as the "turnaround" one being free, each additional stop overs beyond those 2 are AUD100 each.

Don't get this fare confused with a RTW. It is a European fare which allows an AP routing (ie. via the Americas) in one direction and an EH/TS/AF routing (ie. via Asia or South Africa) in the other. There is no minimum/maximum segment allowance but rather a finite list of possible transfers. Just think of North or South America as replacing Asia in one direction on a typical Aust-Europe routing.

You receive one transfer in each direction between Australia and FRA/MUC and one sidetrip from FRA/MUC to Europe. You therefore must reach FRA/MUC in two flights, ie. flights within North America are not permitted. You can surface between your arrival point (eg. LAX) and any LH online point (eg. CHI) however travel between these points is at own expense. In this circumstance, the surface between LAX and CHI is counted as one transfer.

In each direction you therefore have stopover options at your transfer point, plus FRA/MUC, meaning 4 on the entrire journey (as Serfty correctly advised the final destination or 'point of turnaround' is not considered a stopover). Only one stopover is permitted FOC in each direction, additional at AUD100.

I can't yet tell if this explanation is clear or utterly confusing

Does it allow routing via the same region, i.e. Asia, in both directions. I have read about these fares in advertisements and they seem to suggest that this is possilbe.

This fare allows travelling via North America or South America in ONE direction only, however it will allow travel via Asia in BOTH directions. In this circumstance, however, there are even cheaper fares available for those not wanting to take advantage of the global routings:

Y class: $1379 + tax
All routings via Asia permitted as per previous advice
Departures until 30NOV09. Ticketing until 30SEP09.

J class: $4943 + tax
Departures until 31MAR10. Ticketing until 31AUG09 (however will most likely be re-released in SEP)
Routings as follows:

QF:
Aust-SIN v.v
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-HKG v.v
SYD-BKK v.v
PER/SYD-TYO v.v

VS:
SYD-HKG v.v

SQ:
Aust-SIN v.v

TG:
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-BKK v.v

LH:
Aust-SIN v.v
BNE/MEL/PER/SYD-BKK v.v

LH:
Asia/TYO-FRA/MUC-Dest v.v

Thanks. that is excellent! I could really use something like that next May. Hopefully it will still be available.

Can anyone tell me which booking class this fare books into ?

****/cheap-flights/phone-flights-details/round-world-flights/lufthansa-star-alliance-round-world/100019

I'm trying to find out if the fights I want have available seats for this fare via SeatCounter.

Thanks !!

PS Sorry I'm not allowed to post the link.

it has got increasingly lower and lower..and also the thing is not the same in the multiple airlines.. if you ring Bestflights and ask, be prepared for a question which goes Why do you want to know? and resist the intense urge to say, because i want to know..i think s and t now..but it depends on the airlines you choose

Being a published fare, you can combine with LX Europe fares too.

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying to travel in July or August, and every longhaul filght with this fare is S0 and T0. So it's basically a waste of time for me.
At least it prepares me for when I talk to the TA. I would have probably said... "you published the fare, but now your saying there are no seats !"...Seems like a bit of bait and switch to me.
But if you can get the flights, it seems like an awesome fare.

Cheers !

Economy route was...
SYD-YVR
drive to...
YYC-FRA(24 hr max)-EDI
...easyjet to CDG
CDG-MUC(24 hr max)-HKG
HKG-SYD

$2546
Lots of airports, lots of taxes! But still I'm happy with the price, who knows if anything better will come along for July-Aug.

Thanks for replying promptly dwalch.

So everything (booking, payment) was done over the phone? Just tell them your desired destinations etc and then they work it all out on the spot?

So this really looks a pretty good product. Can those who have booked /flown on this fare tell me if the QF/CX sectors to/from Asia are an LH codeshare or not.Still want to keep mrsdron a WP now she has made it.And hopefully still be able to Flounge in SYD!;)

My understanding is that you can use QF/CX operated and marketed segments on the Business fare, but only LH/TG/UA on the mixed First/Business fare. So something like SYD-JFK-FRA-xx_-FRA-JFK-SYD would be rather lucrative SC wise if one doesn't have a need to stop in Asia. Great fare for topping up BMI accounts also.

Does anyone know what fare bucket the business fare books into? IIRC it used to be booked into Z but they've chopped and changed things so much. I'm trying to find out if I can apply SEN upgrade vouchers to the LH segments. :)

I saw this on bestflights but have heard some horror stories about them on FT.

So this is bookable in business or mixed fare business/first via Lufty?

And to answer my own question - no restrictions on fare buckets for business-first upgrades. Yippee.

Have the following itinerary in my head but a nagging at the back of my mind that I need to pay the W HK a visit soonish...
SYD-JFK QF
JFK-FRA-LHR LH
//CDG-FRA-LAX LH
LAX-MEL QF

Does the fare allow QF all the way to JFK? The fare rules originally posted by Travel Guru indicate that only MEL/SYD/BNE-LAX and SYD-SFO are valid US routings on QF.
