Hi everyone

I'm planning a trip to LHR using a QF ticket on EK metal. When searching for a return flight, the only option available departs at an inconvenient time and includes a tight 1 hour 10 minute connection in DXB.

I believe I can find a better itinerary by using the Multi-City search feature, booking MEL → DXB and then DXB → LHR on separate dates.

My question: If I book this technically multi-city route, will my checked baggage be transferred all the way through to LHR, or will I need to collect and recheck it in DXB?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

By the way, EK405 is operated by a B777 so it may be a 2-3-2 configuration in Business class - I'd prefer the earlier EK407 on an A380

Thank you for your incredibly prompt help.
Thank you more so for the B777 tip - best avoided I think (even if it means an early departure)
