BTW from the T&C...

Qantas Segments booked in X, U, Z or P classes are eligible to earn points and Status credits only when booked as part of a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.

Great news ;)

Hint, hint... Red Roo, I think everybody who didn't get to go to the Lunch should get one of these... or even the 2x variant ;)

Actually, who was at the table with me that raised the analogy about saving up baggage allowance and using it all at once?

I wasn't actually suggesting we should be able to save up all out guest allowance to use on one visit. I was actually suggesting a trade off between the fixed 2 guests per visit versus having one or two extra guests once or twice per year. I would like recognition that allows me to bring in immediate family on a rare occasion, rather than 2 random strangers everytime I fly.

They could achieve this by issuing a small number of annual guest passes per year, say gold 2, plat 3/4, plat one 4-6, for use when travelling with the status member at the same lounge level as the member (possibly for family only). Any problems with fraud or forgery could be solved with technology. But I can't imagine those are big problems given the large number of guest passes that are handed out with credit cards and etc. these days.

Oh dear...something medhead and I agree on...surely it can't be?!

I think this is a really good idea and would probably reduce wastage for QF also. What was the reaction from the QF reps at the table?

I'll have a half! Didn't have to wait long, received this morning.

I even made sure they knew my QFF number yesterday when I asked the question - maybe they are drafting the DSC offer email rather than the half offer.

thats my point... hardly a 'reversal'... we didn't get anytime access back.

If you're expecting Qantas to reverse course on their business plans you're going to be disappointed a lot.

The idea that nothing is set in stone relates more to working with customers and making small changes, not making U-turns.

I certainly don't expect them to reverse course, however some tweaks to the system and perhaps fixes to little anomalies as they are found make sense.

I think BA are a tad disappointed with some U turns

not me. I just stopped flying QF!

but I think anyone who truly believes the spin that 'nothing is set in stone' may be disappointed.

QF are pretty good at setting things in stone.... refusing to waive call centre fees for bookings that can't be completed on line. Or refusing to offer at least some guaranteed upgrades for international flights (same as they do for domestic... some can be guaranteed, others are subject to lottery)... and an apparent refusal to address bad staff (if they are addressing the latter I haven't seen that on AFF.)

Whilst I've not done a lot of Intl flying, I have had Call Centre fees waived for some dom flying and I believe I've had bad experiences dealt with (Red Roo strangely had a heap of influence on another social forum in my "Qantas Journey").

Qantas is a hell of a lot more flexible then a number of other service companies I've had the displeasure of dealing with.

The idea was sort of glossed over a bit. Possibly by the analogy of saving luggage allowance up so a car could be checked in. I did include the idea in my list of 3 negatives about QFF.

I travel roughly every 12 to 18 months with the family. This idea could be refined to just two passes at gold and higher level and still be useful for me.

I guess either a pass system or allowing lounge staff a little more flexibility in admitting guests over and above the codified limit would be potential solutions. I understand the reason for the low limit is to avoid the crowding of lounges, but realistically the Dom. lounges are MORE crowded than an Int. lounge and the guesting allowance is two pax for WP/P1 there. Having said that, I've usually found the lounge angels to be...well quite angelic, especially when it comes to members of one's immediate family. No one likes a Sophie's Choice scenario at the frosted doors to paradise ;)

I would like to thank Qantas for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Food was great and the gift was pretty special. The Q & A's were good, but sorry that we couldn't influence the re-introduction of Jasa's on-line. Samh004 did a great job getting it all uploaded quickly. Don't know how he did it. I especially need to thank all the great people I met yesterday. You know who you are!

True.

I just dislike the idea that platinum members have to beg for this kind of consideration. I'm really not sure how this would go at the F lounge either. Fwiw I also think 2 guest domestically is overly generous for people who fly frequently. Is a guest allowance I'm never going to use better than a lower allowance that I would find useful?

Anyway, I'm probably banging on about this too much. But it is an issue that would encourage me to buy the higher fares if it was addressed.

Good to see it suggested, as essentially that's what a MASA was.
I thought it was gone but you can still earn SCs and points on Any Seat awards

So basically as thought nothing will change as a result of this lunch
A few things will be looked at

- Review of how ADL is affected with changes
- More codeshares with partners for onward flights from SIN/HKG to Europe and more specifically LHR
- Review possibility of upgrades from Any Seat awards or Classic

The ADL one is interesting. They have had a lot of feedback.

Interesting perhaps, surprising NO !

Qantas couldn't make 3 flights a week work ADL to SIN, but SQ have increased to 12 flights a week since the decision from Qantas

As someone has already mentioned here, for ADL pax the value seems with SQ for international & VA for domestic (crediting points to what is similarly the same program)

Finally, I'd like to thank Red Roo and Qantas for putting on the event yesterday (forgot to do that last night)! I'm very happy I was given the chance to come along and represent AFF. I look forward to the continuing interaction between Qantas and the members here. It's very much appreciated.

:D *minimises AFF and opens emails, searches inbox*

*then junk folder* :-|

No, nothing here :(

Great opportunity amaroo, guess I shouldn't plan to meet you between now and 31 May - you may not be home

See what happens. People don't like these changes and mention that their travel plans will change away from Qantas.

And at the first mention of Double SCs they run back....

I too would like to thank Red Roo and her team for the organisation of this event. It was great to finally meet fellow AFF members, so thanks for the great day.

On another note, I have just received a customer feedback form from QF regarding the delay to QF571 yesterday. Bit surprised but appreciative as I hadn't submitted any feedback.
I am just wondering if Reggie and JohnM have received the same?

And at the first mention of Double SCs they run back....

Well, one suspects they are not stupid, they will take the double SC's when available and not when they are not. That's rational behaviour for you, sticking with someone over a misplaced sense of loyalty when the numbers dont stack up isn't.

I thought it was gone but you can still earn SCs and points on Any Seat awards.

What is changing is that an Any seat award will no longer be book able in classic award fare buckets. That is Marginal ASAs. You will still be able to book revenue fare buckets using points+pay. As a revenue fare it will of course still earn.

QF WP has been pretty consistent with commentary about moving and sticking with VA. The only running I see is the other way...
