Interesting perhaps, surprising NO !

Qantas couldn't make 3 flights a week work ADL to SIN, but SQ have increased to 12 flights a week since the decision from Qantas
Qantas couldn't make the 3 flights work or the people of ADL? Justin spoke at length about ADL and Qantas strategy for Asia.

It is not easy to compete with a carrier like SQ taking you to their hub and then onward to their network from there.

Qantas is going to focus on getting people to Oneworld hubs in Asia and codeshares from there to other destinations. HKG and SIN were mentioned. BKK was not.

As someone has already mentioned here, for ADL pax the value seems with SQ for international & VA for domestic (crediting points to what is similarly the same program)
You will do what works best for you.

I'll keep saying VA domestic is nowhere near Qantas in any way shape or form. Still not sure why it is rated so highly.

One thing that I found interesting was Lesley's seemingly genuine surprise at a fairly consistent theme of people not wanting to fly Jetstar when a Qantas flight option was not available. I wasn't quick enough to think to ask Lesley when she last flew Jetstar herself for business purposes and how she found the experience.

I find that rather interesting.

That just shows how far out of touch QF are with their premium/valued customers

Of all the things that have been posted, I find this comment to be the most concerning of all. Quite clearly it indicates that at the highest levels, there is no comprehension that Jet* is regarded as an inferior product to Qantas. Which means that they will have no concerns at all about Jet*ing the Qantas fleet and do not understand the consequences to the people whom they call customers.

Perhaps you could email her with that question which I think Is excellent. I take it you would have gotten her card with email address etc.

According to the CEO Qantas has the highest positive customer feedback of all time. So they obviously think their strategy is the right one.

In the face of such high positive customer feedback, I don't think QF thinks it needs to change anything anytime soon?

I think at least one Qantas executive understood this - and I suspect that's why VA and TT do not even acknowledge each other's existence.

I mentioned JQ a few times and it did not go down well.

Qantas management must really feel that people will fly JQ where possible but they should have that information at hand. If people were flying Qantas and now not flying JQ that more than likely means they are flying Virgin.

They obviously think that their Frequent Flyers will stay blindly devoted and will fly JQ over VA

Given they've ditched International Q metal for Adelaide (and now Perth) it's a real fear that Jet* will replace the Qantas fleet for Adelaide flights. Which makes Virgin the winner, but not on the best timetables unfortunately. But Jet* is not an option for us.

Of course they would much rather fly JQ over VA as they

1) Are the same company or part of same group.

2) Get recognition based on there QF Status

3) Get Priority Boarding

4) Are able to select seats anywhere they want at no charge as soon as they book.

5) Get free food and Beveridge on main Flights

6) Have extra Baggage allowance based on Status

7) Enjoy Priority check

Ohhhhhhhhhh wait hang on that's not Jetstar that's VA sorry.

Why the hell would you fly an LCC when all the benefits you have ultimately paid for are not available to you. I for one will work towards a higher status with other airlines and reduce my exposure to the JESTARISATION of QF

They obviously think that their Frequent Flyers will stay blindly devoted and will fly JQ over VA

I made it clear that in my case the opposite had happened.
Since VA upped the ante and status matched from QF I have directed the majority of my domestic flights to them in preference to the alternative available to me of JQ. The only time I will fly JQ is when the VA timings don't suit me.
I have maintained my VA WP so far and see no reason for that to change. This is all lost revenue to the QF group and I know a number of colleagues here and interstate who have done the same.

No we won't be blindly devoted to fly JQ over VA

But PrincessF, they seem completely unaware, if not surprised, that people (sorry, Royalty) such as yourself are doing this.

But Jet* is not an option for us.

JQ is not an option for the majority of people.

Qantas should already know the majority of their top tier frequent flyers are not flying JQ. You wouldn't unless you had no choice and even then there ard other choices such as canoes or driving.

Princess Fiona is a classic example. It takes her ~2 hours to drive to SYD airport. Without knowing JQs schedules out of NTL I would assume it would take longer to travel JQ to SYD and then collect bags and change terminals to QF or even international.

If Lesley's reaction is correct, then Q seem completely oblivious that this is happening.

I can see the issue for Capital city folk but for regional jockeys like myself doing a dom commute - J* is fine.
