Macquarie 40k for 99

Macquarie Bank bought the Woolworths Everyday Mastercard business from GE Money in 2014 ............ and quickly reduced the points earning to that listed in the last post.

The Jetstar Mastercard (also issued by Macquarie Bank) is likely to be the next on the list for a haircut.

How good or bad is Macquaire to deal with. Anyone have experience?

I find them difficult.

Last year I was sent an invitation to increase my credit limit, just ring to accept.
When I rang, the increase was denied because I was late making one payment. Didn't matter that I'd spent about $60k in a year and always paid it back bar that one occasion when I was traveling and missed the date by a couple of days. Try again in 9 months I was told.

ANZ quite often send me an invitation to increase my limit to $50K, Macquarie won't raise my limit above $3.5K, another sorry letter received yesterday following an application last week.

I got rejected for this, although given it's no good for ATO soon I'm not too fussed.

Yes the ATO cards are all but gone now unfortunately. Might make it harder for ATO with collections. :) It is the monthly capping on everything else that annoys me.

Can anyone report how long the 40,000 points bonus takes to appear in my QFF account?

Got my Macquarie Qantas Platinum card late Feb. Have spent way above the minimum. My first statement came through the other day and I've been credited with 9000 QFF points for spending, but no 40,000 bonus yet.

With bonus points they show on the statement around when they are credited to your account not when you spend enough to qualify. So it could be 2-3 statements after you make the qualifying spend depending on what the T&Cs for the card state about when the points will be credited.

If I apply today and am approved, is it likely that I will be able to get my card activated well before the ATO deadline of 11 May 2016?

I applied and received my card 8 days later. However the letter refers to an online password I shall have received. I do not recall receiving any such password.

Password comes the next day or so in the mail.
You don't need to wait. If you ring them up they will give you a new password over the phone. once they ask you the usual identity questions.

Thanks. That solved it. Now I need to do the qualifying spend and wait for the points to come in. This card doesn't have QANTAS written on it, but then the example on Macquarie's website doesn't either. Hope they setup the card right.

Reading the description of Black vs Platinium card I noticed this:
[TABLE="class: comparison, width: 100%"]
[TR="class: comparison-even"]
[TD]Access over 750 airport lounges overseas, regardless of class of travel or airline you’re flying. Call our 24/7 Concierge Service on +61 2 9273 2705 to find out what lounges are available for your next trip and get a quote.Service charges apply, excludes airport lounges in Australia.

This sounds like PriorityPass membership, but I'm curious about the details. Especially the aforementioned service charges.

Has anyone used it? What are the charges for? Do you just get two lounge invitations or is it more like the Citibank membership where you get unlimited access and can take a guest with you?

Does anyone have the link to their full PDS and T&C for this card? I can't seem to find it on the website.

Thanks Scr77,

I've seen that. What I'm after is the full detailed T&Cs like these from ANZ: Terms and conditions | ANZ

Ah, I see. I binned my printed booklet last weekend. MAC should be able to email you a PDF, but good luck, if my call centre experiences are anything to go by. Mrs SCR applied for the platinum but received the Classic. 10 days later and I still can't get the call centre to confirm that they will issue 20k bonus points (instead of none) as was the promotion for that card at the time. I refuse to activate the card without confirmation.

My experience is that Macquarie are simply difficult to deal with. I suggest you return the card un-activated & request they advise VEDA that you no longer have a credit limit applied to this card so that it does not impact on your next credit card application with someone else.

11 days from card activation to arrival of 40k bonus. Required spend was achieved on the first day.

I haven't got my bonus yet but then I did my required spend less than 11 days ago. Hope I get it soon.
