I have been having the same problem and my ISP people say it's chrome and to log in via another browser.

Re the Chrome problems others had. I just logged in now to check my balance etc., and had no problems with Chrome.

However, I notice that the https has a red line through it and a X. This is worrying. Does that mean it is no longer a secure site? Is this related to the Java problem. I am not an IT expert :(

For me, under the Your Rewards section it just shows 2446 points earned this cycle, it is not separated out to 2000 bonus points and 446 normal points.

Just Curious about spending patterns.. or blind luck.
Are they rewarding folks who pay a bit of interest by offering no fee ?

I pay zero interest, ever. Had the annual fee comp. They told me as I've been a cardholder for over 5 years or something.

Still cancelling.

Chrome have made an early transition to require higher grade security than SHA-1, which has proven easily hacked. Most sites already have the newer SHA-256 certificates loaded but many haven't updated. Chrome is merely pointing out that they haven't updated their certificate yet.

They're leading the pack on this, all other popular browsers still verify SHA-1 certificates.

Ok, so not to worry about some sites being 'shown up' in this manner then?

Still getting 1 pt per dollar for everything in April....

Just got my APR statement today - credited 1p/$ for $2500 and less for the rest. Luckily I've already curbed the spend and was only over by a couple of hundred $

Interesting conversation today.

tgh If I decide not to activate the card , will you refund the annual fee we paid in dec
Woolies : no . we cannot refund your fee
tgh : but you have not honoured the contract upon which you charged the fee
Woolies Yes we have , we have given you a new card
tgh : Yes but upon completely different terms and conditions to the terms upon which you charged me the original fee.
Woolies . (my paraphrasing) .. well thats just the way it is
tgh .. so how do I cancel the card ?

At this point I hung up as I wasn't sure this action would get my fee back either
I'm off to read the terms and conditions

Ah, great! Good angle, I might try this tomorrow if I get a few spare minutes. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Surely activation of the new card is acceptance of the 'new deal' quite different to being subjected to terms and conditions which may change at any time with or without my explicit acceptance.

This is the problem with playing chicken against Macquarie after the new annual fee is charged but before the new card is activated (eg. they arlready have your money). Let us know how you go, but if Macquarie are going to rely on activating the card as accepting the new t&cs then will be contestable that they can't charge the new fee, although they might try to argue that customers have been forewarned of the new fees, earn and t&cs so a failure to cancel the card/account constitutes acceptance of the new conditions (card activated or not?) - this might be where they come unstuck if someone chooses to take this further?

Its for this reason that I cancelled well before the new fee, t&cs and points earn caps came into place.

I have this year free, so no new fee for me hopefully if they stick to my prior agreement. I have not had any phone call, but did get a text. I'll continue to play chook until the last minute and then maybe go ahead. I have until 2359 on Sat night.

On balance , I decided to go with the flow and activate.

I've been comped the last few years and hardly ever use the card, in fact I ring up and say want to cancel because I dont really need it and they always seem to push renewal.

No the t&c's explicititly ay that acceptance is based on activation or use (and you can't normally use until activated). Legally forewarning is not enough, material changes to T&C"s must be accepted and Macquarie themselves must follow the T&C's they put in place. Its a very strong argument made by tgh, lets forget about Macquarie for a second and ask if an independant authority (say FOS) would accept it, I believe they certainly would.

Phoned again to question the fee charged last Dec and had the fee waived for this year, guess it all depends on who you talk to on any given day!

I just phone and agreed to an annual fee of $89 due next month, and 5,000 points. My previous offer to activate was only 2000 points. I just have to spend $1 tomorrow for the points to arrive in 8 weeks or so.

To those who activated and used the 10% off voucher at Woolworths, did you pay using the Woolworths Money visa as per the T&Cs or did Wish Cards work?

Does everyone pay the same annual fee. My old fee was $89 but I thought I read that with the be card the fee was $139 but vaguely remember the info they mailed me saying $49 but I will have to check that.
I still haven't decided whether to activate today or not....

I chickened out and paid on the Woolworths Money Visa as per the offer conditions. It may have worked to pay with Wish Card as the 10% discount was applied before it came to payment.

I've used the code and paid with wish gift cards before, no issues.

If I were you, I'd hang out for no fee. I agreed to $89 ($50 off), some got it waived and some have paid the full new fee. Also, ensure you get the 5K points.

I may still call up next week and cancel as I'm not sure it's at all worthwhile with my other cc line up.

I paid using my ANZ Amex.
The 10% off was applied before payment.
