Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

Received a postal offer dated 23/04 from BankWest for a mastercard, (just two days before my woolies mastercard was deactivated, coincidence? :) )

It is offering 50,000 points, I would be interested, but the rate is only .75 of a point per dollar.

Also being retired, the paperwork for the QCU card was onerous as my income streams haven't been finalised as yet, should be sorted soon though.

I paid using my ANZ Amex.
The 10% off was applied before payment.

Oops, I forgot about the T&C's, and just automatically pulled out my ANZ Amex as I always do in Woolies. Anyway, system accepted the payment. Guess I will have to repay the money when they catch up with me. I never use the Woolies card in the supermarket as it is only 1 point per $1 under $30 whereas my ANZ Amex is 1.5 points. I don't reach the $30 very often so better to earn 1.5 per dollar when I get no bonus for spending under the limit.

If I were you, I'd hang out for no fee. I agreed to $89 ($50 off), some got it waived and some have paid the full new fee. Also, ensure you get the 5K points.

I may still call up next week and cancel as I'm not sure it's at all worthwhile with my other cc line up.

Good advice. I didn't activate the new card by the April 25 th deadline so my old card is now dead. I'm happy to just forget Woolworths money but if they call me and offer no fee I will keep it.

Did anyone who didn't activate the new card get a call today?

I'd like to know what they do or offer you in this situation, pulse let us know.

I haven't activated and haven't received a call or better than 2000 points offer. Happy to wait. Have fee free but will activate in time for my $2,500 ATO monthly payment.

I've had multiple missed calls from Woolies. They haven't left a message. Just shifting the last of the direct debits off it and waiting for Shrek's supplementary QCU card. I'm not remotely interested in keeping the card so don't really care what they say or offer me unless it's no points capping

I got a call today from Woolies Money - was asked why I hadn't activated the new card, to which I simply responded "points capping". The rep offered to waive my next annual fee if I activated, but I politely declined (I've already changed all my direct debits over to my new HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa and can't be bothered with multiple cards).

Despite not activating the new card, my card account remains active so annoyingly I'll have to call to cancel once I've paid off the balance on my April bill (due in a few weeks). Interestingly, the rep couldn't tell me if should use the old (Master Card) or new (Visa) card number to BPay off my final balance, and said I would need to speak to customer service to get an answer - didn't waste my time and I'll just use the new card number to avoid any delays/late fees/interest.

With a free annual fee next year, 2000 points for signing and water and shire rates bills to pay I quickly scored almost 4500 points in a couple of minutes. These folks do pay on ATO so I decided to stay on for the fee free year but the points capping is harsh.

I _did_ blink and activate in the late afternoon of the 25th but got a call yesterday afternoon (29th APR) asking me whether I wanted to activate ... damn, I strongly suspect I would have been made a better offer than I got ... all I got was the 10% off wollies and 2000 QF points.

I've had a busy time over the last 6 months and so despite seeing this one coming from a long way off, I hadn't actually managed my FF business very well so I still got caught with my pants down. They've charged me the fee, never got offered a waiver, so I'm in for the next 9 months, but theres no value in it now with the $2500 cap. I'm better off with a lower earning but cheaper (or free) card I suspect and will need to find time to reorganise myself.

Used my 10% off voucher last night on a $240 shop. Scanned the EDR bar code then the 10% voucher bar code .... then promptly paid with Amex card.

Got my 10% voucher on the 28th and just realised it expires on the 30th .. today. what a laugh

Prior to the cut off date you could pay with either but it took a few days to show if you used the old MC number, I'd just use the new Visa number now as it shows up quicker in your statement.

I just called to cancel the Visa card. Got offered zero fee for next year, so I'll hang onto it for a little longer and make sure I spend no more than $2.5K in any cycle.

Same thing for me JohnM. 30k points is still worth having for no fee.

Not yet . Rang and got told 6 weeks after first transaction post activation

You still pay $49 per supplementary card.
