Right so I rang today and was told my contact was unavailable.
Got a call back from another guy...who said card service his department.....said I wanted no fees for next year after $80K spend.
He said he will review things and ring me back tomorrow with "what I can do"
Let you know outcome......

I had the pleasure yesterday of closing my account, good riddance. They tried to threaten me with a spiel that there were no guarantees I would get a card from them again if I left. ROTFLMAO. I couldn't see how that was a threat. Worst "platinum" card I have ever had. Now to ditch my Jetstar card so I don't have to deal with Macquarie Bank again.

WoW, they threaten their customer?!:o

My Exp' with them so far is Okay. Also they give award points on BPay (I think). Have you discussed the annual fee waiver with them?

Not interested in keeping this card a second longer than I had to, even if they waived the annual fee. The only efficient thing they've done since I had this card was actioning my request to close it. There are far better offerings around. You only have to look back in this thread to see how cardholders have been stuffed around by these muppets. I am a valuable enough customer to a bank that I have no concerns about churning to a better product. They're dreaming if they think I would want to apply for their card again.

True, even for the BPay part I'm sure we can find another bank to do it:cool:

Closed account today (annual fee due next week). They offered half price fee but....there are better deals out there. Shame..I think the card actually looks quite nice..had got quite used to it!

Did it take much to get offered the half price annual fee?

Told them I didn't want to pay any fee and would cancel if it was not waived.. went to discuss with someone and came back with half. I said no thanks...

So I cancelled and then a couple of weeks later applied for the other offer (40K points + 2 passes - $99 fee).
Have the 40K points already, just waiting for the passes..
Don't see how this makes good sense for Macquarie. I would have stayed with them and thought no more about it if they had waived the ($200) fee completely, but now I have spent out the same amount as the half fee offered ($100) for a new card, and gained an extra 40K points & 2 passes..

Apart from the fact it's probably BS did you say you are closing the card because you don't want a card from Mac Bank.

Has anyone managed a full fee waiver and when does Macquarie charge the annual fee to the account?

Telephoned yesterday to cancel this card and was put through to a customer service representative from Philippines call centre who initial offered me 1000QFF points to keep the card and when that was rejected he generously doubled the offer to 2000QFF.

Macquarie, seriously, you've got to be kidding mate, did you say 2000QFF :?: Can I hear that again because my mind can't quite comprehend it.

At 1c/point that's a massive $20 discount! :)
