Thinking the laundry charges in hotel in Istanbul quite reasonable and getting a shirt and suit cleaned. Bill came and realised that prices were in Euros rather than Turkish Lira. Compounded the error by being stung equivalent of $45 for a (double) Gin and Tonic the same evening in hotel bar

Stone the Crows - just realised our recently booked CX146 stops at CNS on her way to HKG  .... no wonder I could get 4 x J award seats!

I suppose it beats traveling to SYD/MEL to catch the 8.30am (only other options for 4 x J) .... the kids haven't been to CNS so they can now cross that off the list ;)

Why fly direct when you can have a 40 min stopover :D

I'd call that more of an oversight. :p A mistake would be booking the return HKG/BNE via CNS which lands at stupid-o-clock & although customs is still done in BNE, all transit pax have to go through transit security in CNS prior to reboarding the flight & wave bye bye to any Johnny Walker blue label in their carry on luggage.

You're not doing that on the return by any chance are you?

I suppose two pre-takeoff champers are better than one.

I'm all over it now! Need to wait another 4 weeks before booking the return flights - doubt we'll select any BNE options given the direct flight lands at 23.20

I booked a quick 2 day Bali trip on the recent specials knowing that I could use my days in lieu if I had to work that day (roster wasn't out at that stage) which can be requested up to 3 months in advance so I diarised 27 Nov to requests 27 Jan off.

Didn't realise until I was going through the calendar on my phone mid November that I should've requested days off back on 27 Oct as I got confused with the fact we were also going away in February as well as January.

Of course by then all slots were taken as Tue 27 Jan just happens to be the day after the Australia Day public holiday as well as the first day back of school so it was a highly sought after date. Of course the roster is published & Murphy's Law had me working that day.

Swapping days off was virtually impossible as three out of my 4 days off that fortnight were weekends so no shift worker wants the weekends off as they'd rather earn the penalty rates & work then. I was telling a colleague how I'd stuffed up my days off & as it happened she had the Tuesday off & was happy to work & take my Friday off in exchange (plus get rid of a couple of her early shifts for my lates which suits me anyway). Panic averted.

Who said there's not a Santa Claus?

Stupid o'clock????????

AKA ungodly hour.

The term pretty much describes having to get up ridiculously early in the morning to catch an 0500 flight or staying up late to catch a flight at 0230 or transit in CNS at 0300 en-route from HKG to BNE.

Or, arriving at midnight after you've spent the best part of the past 12 hours enjoying the Wing F lounge and CX J onboard hospitality :p and you've still got 1.5hr drive before you get home

Yep has been known to take the gloss off many a day indeed

No Plant nothing for me since Christmas lunch. We are heading to Sydney tomorrow for New Years Eve so I can wait for that.
I picked a flight in the middle of the day because Mrscove will be with me. She really doesn't like the 3.30am starts that I might do for work travel.

Not sure if this one counts... I was in the holding room in KUL, and sat down on the "priority seats". Only after a while, I realised that they were for the elderly, children, etc, and NOT for pax with status.

Had plenty of stupid o'clock flights this year ex-BNE. Why stay overnight when one can do day trips :o

You are still young and love your family
A. Night away is an excuse to avoid an early flight ( and evening at home ) IMHO.
And Don't worry, Mrs GPH feels the same.
I have done the stupid O'Clock starts once too often.

I'll have to have a stern word with her :o. I thought our separate discussions had put in place a really good plan towards WP qualification and re-qual??

Don't leave booking high season flights and accommodation until ~3 weeks from trip.

This ones going to hurt slightly.
