Made any travel mistakes lately?

Fascinated by the use of 'agent' ... What's with that?

Booked saver tickets to Sydney for 31st January so we could attend the free Opera in the Domain (yes, I regularly pay for opera too but love being outside with a picnic and some champagne).
Googled concert today - it is on 24th January.
Damn , missed it by a week!!

...SCL-LPB was no issues as it was with LAN and our OW status helped sort out bags without issue but when I went to checkin on the LPB-VVI leg ...
I flew LPB-VVI years ago and loved the flight - great views of a changing landscape. Also, arrived in La Paz after 4 months backpacking and traveling overland so no altitude sickness for me!

Just returned from a hectic European/ US trip. Being summer in Oz and being from Oz I was not used to all the winter gear one needs to survive winter there. In ARN I was making use of the shared lounge (flying BA) before the flight, then after passing through immigration and after scanning the BP at the gate and walking down the aerobridge I realised I left my jacket in the lounge so I turned around and headed back to the gate. Fortunately for me the dispatcher was coming down the aerobridge and she was able to access the lounge and grab my jacket as I would have frozen without it! Luckily it was a smallish terminal and the gate was close to the lounge and I had boarded not too late!

Reminds me ... few years back I had a 2 stay stop-over just goofing off coming back from a biz trip to Canada in winter, where I stow my winter kit at the office. So was travelling sans coat.

Took the express train from ARN into the city (how good is that service!!) and I knew I had a 2 block walk to the hotel. No problem ... too lousy to pay for a taxi; I'll just walk and tow the bag .. Stockholm bound to be well maintained and efficient, isn't it?

Well, yes, but a) there was about 2" snow on the ground and still wind and snowing, and b) one of the blocks length was uneven paver type footpath treatment, so ended up with shoes full of slush, damaged wheels before I decided to carry the bloody bag (also carry-on) and an overall very unceremonious arrival in the hotel lobby.

So do I believe that you got the bag in MIA, straitman??
We leave VVI for LIM then MIA at 1610 tomorrow. (It's now 1315)

Still no idea where the bag is though LAN have assured us that they have it but who knows where and when we will have a reunion? A few cheap T shirts in Orlando and I'll manage even if the bag travels back to Oz alone.

Over the New Year break I thought I had paid a particular credit card bill that is a major source of my frequent flyer points. I was wrong.
After some negotiations I have retrieved all the fees barring about $250 which is pretty reasonable of that credit card company seeing it was my fault.
Have found the auto payment form and it took about 6 minutes to do two of them so that will not happen again.

I'm all over it now! Need to wait another 4 weeks before booking the return flights - doubt we'll select any BNE options given the direct flight lands at 23.20

Don't rule it out. The BNE-CNS-HKG-BNE schedule alternates with a BNE-HKG-CNS-BNE. You just need to pick dates, and the late departure from HKG will arrive in BNE without the CNS stop.

Pick dates right, and CNS can be avoided - pick wrong or be date constrained and you can end up with 2 visits to the Reef lounge for your trouble.

We booked flights to SFO wihtout checking accommodation prices; turns out it's the weekend of the Pride parade and is super expensive. Had to be a little creative with some price beats to get something in the realm of affordable.

You're in good company. Somehow missed one of mine (£20 balance) and was slugged £12 for late payment (plus as yet unknown interest). Like you, I have asked for a review of the fee, and hopefully it won't be marked as a missed payment on my credit history over here.

We all have had that kind of 'blue', Cove.

Sometimes the system wins ..... for a change !

I made the mistake of booking Jetstar flights per - dps back in Feb last year for Xmas/NYE trips....

3 weeks out the flight Xmas day gets cancelled so I rebook with garuda for a date that's $480 one way each....then get the text and email sat morning saying our 6pm flight has been delayed until 4:20am the following morning

Call up and nothing available to swap too....quote different flight numbers and wow...there are seats available on the 7:30pm flight that was delayed from that morning. Get to airport - flight delayed until 10:30......check in and leave airport and come back at 9pm....no idea when plane is leaving and if leaving at all....

Moral and lesson of story - never fly jetstar again.......learnt my lesson the hard way and it ended up costing a whole lot more than of I had just booked garuda flights from the start :/

And also....what a fall from grace!!!! Front row on CX J to row 30 on jetstar up against the back toilets in economy!!!!!

Just booked four J reward seats on CX146 (for July this year) and was so stoked to get 4 seats that I failed to notice the Cairns stopover! Oh well, having never been to Cairns, we can check that box. At least I managed to spell all the names correctly........

Booked flights for a day trip, out on VA back on QF. Booked out on VA for the 9th and mistakenly return on QF for the 8th. Luckily I caught and changed the QF flight promptly thanks to Same day no fee

Well I feel better now amaroo! I'm wondering what happens during the Cairns stopover.......does everyone stay on board or do we deplane? Anyway, looking forward to trying CX J class for the first time :D
