My parents went to fly here from NZ yesterday and realised their passports were at home...5 hours drive away! Rebooked to fly same flight today. Father jumped on a plane (regional flight) picked up and driven home, passports collected and dropped back at airport to fly back to Auckland. But also hit with flight delays due to fog.

Not the greatest start to a trip!

My parents recently took the 1205am SQ flight out of Melbourne, but they turned up a day late. Apparently happens a lot according to the guy checking them in.

$600 later and they got free exit rows and a free lounge pass so SQ do look after it’s pax!

That’s very nice of SQ, especially as SQ operate a 24 hour booking system, eg 0005 or whatever. o_O

Always terrified I'll miss one of those just-after-midnight flights so I put reminders in my diary to go "a day early" ie the correct evening.

When you have to book flights for 3 people under two separate bookings and you have that moment where you think you have booked them on two different days! Eek.....luckily I didn't but I thought I did for a few seconds.

Some friends of mine were flying JQ ADL CNS last week and missed the flight (misread time to be there) and JQ put them on the same flight the following day for no charge and gave them exit row seats
They should also have been given a certificate to frame. It doesn't sound anything like the JQ I have heard about or experienced myself.

Actually I got the story slightly wrong. They did have to fork out $50 each which I think is still a bargain. Apparently there were looks exchanged between the couple and they think the Jetstar lady felt sorry for the one who got the time wrong and didn't want to have a blood bath in the airport.

weirdly enough, i made a few mistakes recently that actually worked out better in the long run (detailed in my scoot chartered by sia thread). funny how that happens

We had a conference at the Shangri-La in Fiji and with the roadworks it could be well more than an hour to get to the airport for an 8.15 am flight to get to Australia.
We moved closer to the Nadi Airport today to make the departure.

You'd think the airlines would just schedule these flights for 2355 and then just run them ten minutes late if need be. Must be a lot of people who get confused by a 12:05am time.

I agree - which is why I think the 24 hour clock time should be used - 00:05 would be pretty clear.

It’s not always the time, as you usually book a flight on a day, not a time. So your flight is say 0005 Tuesday the 24th, you think the flight is on the Tuesday night, but in fact 0005 is 5 minutes past midnight on Tuesday morning. That said, I agree that the 24 hour clock is the way to go, but with no colons nor hrs included - just 1305 or 1900 or 0930. Some are confused with times such as 1700 and 1900 but if you just take away 12 from the time it makes things easier and you quickly adapt if that is the default system.

I booked two business class seats on Qantas using points to go PER-SYD-NAN and was declined entry to the first class lounge in Sydney as our seats were issued as Air Fiji ones. The business class lounge is just not the same.

Gaaahh! The ignominy. I feel your pain @cove. I thought MrsCove was WP? Expired, I guess?

We were denied as Platinums JohnM as our tickets were Air Fiji.
I had to deal with Mrscove as we had not ever done the rejection walk together to the business class lounge.
Fortunately the Shangri-La resort was pretty good so that work trip was fine.
