Yes JohnM it was a cruel blow as the First lounge and Mrscove seem quite suited.
Coming home we had a 737 from Brisbane to Perth and even though it had wifi I won't want to do that again.
Yes we have been spoilt by the A330 suites out of Sydney.

Was transiting from terminal 4 to TBIT in LAX on the weekend and not really paying attention. Ended up in the street before I realised and had to go back through security taking up valuable Qantas First Lounge time.

Made several KrisFlyer bookings plus revenue fares in one sitting.

Last set of KrisFlyer savers waitlisted and immediate confirmation. As soon as I paid for it, I realised the last tickets departed 1 day before I arrived from the previous sector.

Had to pay SGD$35 per passenger to amend the booking
SingAir could not help with a waiver as they could not see availability for the correct day even when I could. The

Not exactly a mistake (unless using a luggage tag is a mistake), but I did recently have the nice purple wire rope pinched off my VA luggage tag! They left the tag ... with a bit of string holding it on. What thoughtful thieves!

The purple metal thing that comes with the tag? Strange thing to pinch.

I have a few at home if you want a replacement - just PM an address and I can send it to you.

Thank you for the kind offer Denali. I too have a number of them, so keep yours for when someone sees it and likes it! The thing that bemused and amused me the most is pinching the wire rope but kindly placing a string on for the tag. I doubt it just broke as they are pretty strong, but who knows ... perhaps I've jumped to conclusions! ;)

Not me but my son:rolleyes: I am just back from dropping my son and his wife off for their Tigerair flight from Perth to Melbourne for a one night stay then onto NZ for a weeks skiing etc.

However my son had moved his flight forward one day and hadn't bothered to read the new details. Unfortunately for him the Wednesday Tigerair flight leaves 90 minutes earlier than his original Thursday night flight. I dropped them off at Terminal 2 and thought that it seemed very quiet for a flight leaving in 90 minutes. Five minutes later I got a call back- the plane had gone.

I now have no need to go to Antarctica to experience an icy silence - the car trip back gave me a very good impression of it. Luckily he was able to book a QF flight out this evening and they will arrive in Melbourne only 4 hours late. I did point out to his wife that she will now be travelling on a bigger plane - A330 - and would have IFE - it didn't seem to make her any happier.

Oh dear!

oops! at least they didn't miss their next flight to NZ.
Luckily they had 2 nights planned in Melbourne. I did the second run to the airport at 22:00 last night and haven't heard from them so I assume they got away this time.:)

Actually I am a little jealous as they are flying into Queenstown late in the morning and that flight must have fantastic views on approach - as long as the skies are clear..

Was in Darwin for work. Had Jetstar flight schedule to Bali to meet my wife for our wedding anniversary, forgot the check in time difference for intl vs domestic and missed checked in by a few minutes. Meant my wife got to Bali a day before me, was not a happy chappy. Won't be making that mistake again. It's the one and only time I've ever missed a flight in my life, albeit with a few rushed runs to gates.

Not my mistake but just caught a flight with an old school friend. Checking in and I said do you want to add your FF number. She said no she's never bothered. She's travelled a lot and was also doing 2-3 trips a year overseas guiding for a company and she said they just sort out all the flights - WTF

A friend of mine is CEO of her own successful business and flys a lot between Qld and China, Qld and Vic and Qld and NZ. Despite me advising her numerous times about tge benefits of status, she always buys the cheapest fares, never adds a FFer number, never buys business and always flys down the back in zoo. Go figure.

Wouldn’t you like to say to that person just do it and give me the points

she always buys the cheapest fares ... never buys business and always flys down the back in zoo.

There's nothing wrong with buying the cheapest economy fares and always flying "in the zoo" if that's what your friend is happy with. I'm sure plenty of AFF members do it also, after all 80-90% of the plane's seating is in Y so someone has fly down there.

I agree that not adding an FF number is a mistake though - even OWR helps when flying economy with J check-in and baggage/seating benefits on some carriers.

Nothing wrong flying down the back. Not everyone wants to play the game and it can be a game that takes over your life.

JohnK, I agree with a lot of what you write, but having just got off a F100, next to the engine, I can honestly say I could not disagree more this time! BTW, are screws meant to be missing from the cowling?

Just went from HKG airport to Kowloon on the train to do early, in town check in for my S7 flight later in the day. Was planning to do a bit of a lounge crawl this arvo.

Found out that S7 discontinued in town check in on 1 Sept!

Now on the train back again to wait for airport check in to open.:(

So much lost lounge time!

You and I fly quite a lot. Status comes in handy. Someone that flies once a month or once every couple of months may not care.

When it comes to premium travel I don't have the obsession. I recently had a $70,000 tax bill and I wasn't going to waste time buying 700 x $100 gift cards to pay the bill so I could get 1 return business class to Thailand. The surcharges on the gift cards I didn't buy bought a return economy ticket and I enjoyed the trip and to be honest with you I don't really have any recollection of the flights but can remember most of the putts I missed in those 6 rounds of golf.
