I can see some of the great delicacy that is BA black pudding. The bacon isn't how I'd do it at home but nothing I'd call burnt

The black pudding was very burnt, it was very hard. Also, have a look at the toast in the background....

As someone recovering from food poisoning it was not a meal I was going to attempt.

Fair call-you got me bang to rights (can't find an embarrassed smiley). The toast looks dreadful. Apparently Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan of charcoal as a cleanser-I am unconvinced

Yesterday I realized that my US credit card wallet was not in my travel bag. I hunted high and low and couldn’t find it.
Finally after lots of looking I admitted to Mrscove that I had searched work and home without success. She went looking and in about 60 seconds she had found it. Oops!
Quite a relief but I did cop some comments about my “boy searching technique”.
You needed to have a girl look rather than a boy look :p
Yesterday I couldn't find the keys to the safe where are passports are kept. Not where I normally keep them. I swear, I looked and looked. +1 found them in seconds. They were where I normally keep them.

Not "recently" and not irretrievable disasters but significant near misses.

Athens- left the passport in hotel safe and only remembered 2 hours later in the countryside on a 7 day bus tour. Luckily the tour company got onto the hotel convinced them to unlock the safe and arranged for it to be "couriered" to me on the road at a lunch stop a few hours later.

Tokyo - booked into & paid for an AirBNB for two nights at the end of a tour. Sitting down relaxing on the first night and luckily thought I'd go on line and prearrange tickets for the airport express train and realised my flight was the next morning, not 48 hours later (time zone stuff-up) . I made the flight!

I used the CCR at LHR.

Burnt full English anyone?

Riddle me this. Why are there only ever 2 results from attempting toast in any lounge/hotel etc? Barely beige or nuclear explosion? If we can put a man on the moon why can't we get toast cooked properly? And why on a domestic toaster does it go to 10 or 12 when the ideal (ish) setting is about 5?

Burnt toast should get put in the bin along with your passport , keys and jewellery.....just kidding of course. I haven’t had to do a boy look for several days so I am in good shape for Easter. There is some pretty wild weather in Perth tonight so it is a great night to be in a do nothing spot.

Hmmm, just made a booking for a hotel in Daun, Germany for 4 nights, except I booked it for the week before. Of course MsC whose German is pretty darn good is not here to help, so I've had to resort to google translate. So I have no idea if it's refundable or not!

Couldn't stand the suspense, so I called them, fortunately his English was quite good, however it appears they don't have any rooms for the dates I want. :(

This was many moons ago...

Mrs Gremlin and I were on our honeymoon when she received a phone call from her work.

Work: "Any chance you could pony up for a series of meetings across six countries in Europe in the space of four days immediately after returning from leave?"

Mrs G: "Sure. But we're going to be hiking and no phone reception, so organise my travel for me."

Long story short, Mrs Gremlin had her flights booked as "Mrs Gremlin" whilst passport still had her as "Miss Maiden-Name". For whatever reason, neither airline nor outbound immigration batted an eyelid in SYD nor when she landed in MUC. When she went to return from LHR on the other hand...

I got a frantic phone call whilst at work. I had to rush home and fax a copy of our marriage certificate - the official one that had arrived in the mail only the day before, not the ceremonial one you get on the actual wedding day - to some random number somewhere in the UK. Somehow, in possession of a faxed copy of a marriage cert, she managed to convince them to get her on that flight. She then copped a grilling upon re-entering Australia. Poor thing was a nervous wreck when she eventually made it home.

All good, they don't have any single rooms, but do have a double which I'm happy to take, obviously costs more, but that isn't really an isue, without trying to sound like I'm gloating, I'm thinking i have too many trips to finalize in too short a time! Now where is that glass of red?

Took someone to the airport tonight - ready to start a J one world reward. Phone call about 30 minutes later - ummm - I have no ETA to get into Canada and so they wouldn't let them board. Had an ETA for Canada last year in old passport but didn't realise needed a new one in new passport - EEK :eek::eek:

And this is the post that made me go and renew our ESTAs a few days ago.... mrsamaroo got a new passport in Feb. Thank you @VPS

I shall mention this to my friend when he returns (I'm sure he'll be pleased that no one else had to go through what he did)

I was booking flights from London to Singapore to Perh and managed to book the flight from Singapore to Perth a day too early. SQ Call Centre fixed it for me and I will be more careful next time. The good news is the Kris Miles that we’re getting old are now used.

Didn't check my car rental slip in enough detail. I book group A, B or C every week depending on which has the best price (often A/B are priced the same). This week A, B and C were all the same so booked C. As Hertz President's Circle I'm guaranteed a 1 level (minimum) upgrade. I'm used to booking B and getting C, so when I saw a group C car I didn't think any more of it. When I got home I checked the rental slip and it says booked C, rented C. Oops. The parking lot at Hertz LHR is as full as I've ever seen it, so car shortage doesn't seem an issue - they're just skimping. Given I have a mixture of A, B and C again over the next few weeks I'll have to check it more closely.

Then there's the pain of having to actually get someone at the counter to deal with you in a timely fashion ........
