Genius!

I'd never thought of that although our kids are/were somewhat older & do recline - at least with your thinking you have some control vs pot luck!
Wife not too keen on the idea. She wants the 3 of us to sit together but there may still be a get out of jail card if all 3 seats in front don't fully recline.

Well, got away with it but I’ve been warned. Rocked up at ‘check-in’ for a LIS-BOR on Ryanair without actually pre-checking in. Gate agent advised she is letting the two of us off the Euro 55 (each) boarding pass issue fee. Yeah. Well I’ve flown Ryanair once before I guess I should have known. I did go searching for an app for them but couldn’t find. Best get my act together. On another note 2 x checked in luggage came in at 19.1 and 19.6 kgs, just under the limit.

If you have a non-BT you can't get an online BP anyway, so it's only really relevant if you hold an EU passport. I think the same applies even if flying within the Schengen zone but not 100% sure on that, maybe not.

Correct those flying Ryanair on Australian passports can't really online check in, you get a online check in receipt type thing that needs to be stamped and verified at the airport anyway. Although they can still slug you with the fee if you don't do the above.

A good way around this is to use the app, then just show that at the counter and they will print the BP. Note that none of this applies for Ireland due to the Common Travel Area and you can simply use the BP.

Thanks for that info all. I do recall making some effort a few days prior to get this sorted and struggling. I’ve got a Ryanair BOD-BER coming up in 4 days too. I’ll try to sort out the app.

The Etihad cheap (by 90%+) business class fares to Europe that got some publicity recently seem to still have some life.

No.1 son came racing downstairs to inform me of it & asked whether he should try a booking. I warned him that it was likely to be cancelled etc but as long as he used a CC (with TI if it comes off) then it should be ok, again reinforced that it will likely be cancelled shortly but Eithad may take a while to refund.

Now, all this time later, his $250 ish one way business class to Europe in August 2023 remains live - he tinkered around changing the seat allocation a few times to see what would happen. Nothing.

Meanwhile, here I type thinking of what could have been....

It's interesting because many news sites have reported them being cancelled.

I read one of those articles earlier today & will query #1 son this evening.

However, a friend of his who had bought a full price Y to Germany leaving earlier this week, cancelled that ticket after buying one of the Eithad J ones to Berlin. He flew out on Monday in J judging by the photo #1 showed me.

... and #1 son got the txt late on Monday, but forgot to mention it to me ;)

Ahhhgh the pain continues on this trip. Despite what I thought was a decent spreadsheet itinerary, I stuffed up my dates for AC Milan v Juventus in Milan. Found out at 3/4 time with no time to make it to the stadium. Crying 😢. 2 tix wasted @ circa $500 all up
This sucks, very much. Sorry to read it.

On my 2nd last night in Spain I was dining outside & fell for the distraction on my right side whilst my 3 month old Iphone was neatly swiped off the table to the left. It's in lost mode now & I see it popped up at a pool hall late last night.

Last day & a bit used my spare phone with no data & offline CityMapps2Go to navigate my way around. Reminded me of when we used to visit Perth as a kid I'd have the street directory lobbed in my lap & was informed I'm the navigator.

I think Perth got the internet recently. ;)

Got an unexpected day in Singapore after not proofreading the tickets: one ticket had a wrong date.

I had a TA creating an itinerary, checked all good and asked them to finalise the booking. Because the itinerary was all set, trusted that the tickets would be, too. Noticed only when going to do OCLI that I can do it only for me but not for my partner. Only then I saw that the TA had booked her outbound flights for a day later. The TA had some scrambling to do but they managed to get us to SIN on the planned day and moved the connection out by a day.

Moral of the story: check the final tickets, too... 🤓
