Made any travel mistakes lately?

I only remembered that I had to get the Christmas wine today at 1430. No alcohol sales between 1400 - 1700.

It would appear that he charged us wait time which is not right unless he counts loading luggage as wait time and then charged for M7 toll as well.

I thought Uber included tolls in quoted rate and taking 3-4 minutes to load luggage should not be an additional charge.

So complain to Uber then. On your complaint about Uber prices fluctuating Uber are quite upfront about surge pricing and it appears you are well aware of it, caveat emptor!

I agree with the recommendation of Didi, in my view Uber are frequently not that cheap and 9 times out of 10 Didi are cheaper, sometimes much cheaper.

Uber are awful to deal with when something goes off script. I was charged $25 instead of $15 for a fictious stop on the way. I only sought $10. After multiple attempts I did a charge back through PayPal. When Uber didn't respond PayPal found in my favour and refunded $10. Next time I open Uber it wants $10 before I can book. Another complaint and they sorted it.
I agree Didi is the way to go, but I do need Uber in some places.

DiDi are definitely cheaper sometime a little sometimes a lot. The constant stream of emailed discount offers helps.

However my experience over a few trips is:

UBER: Clean car, almost new car, usually EV, driver exits vehicle and opens boot, sometimes helps loads luggage, car usually available 3-6mins.

DIDI: sometimes grubby car, older model car, driver never exits vehicle, driver never assists with luggage, sometimes wait up to 15mins for a car.

Surge pricing is awful. It's not good practice. But that's besides the point.

I will complain to Uber. I just wanted to gauge experiences. Being quote ~$95 and booking to find I was harged ~$109 is not a good customer experience.

Often Uber drivers are simultaneously running both apps and picking and choosing where they want to take a job from.

Uber have reduced their standards for car age etc so I don’t expect them to remain all new for much longer.

As has been said already, complain to uber.

Many of these ride share drivers know that they can add a few extra charges on here and there and get away with it as the complaints and dispute process is too hard for the passenger to navigate successfully.

Been unhappy with Uber a few times recently, but persistence thru the complaint service has worked.

In Melb in peak hr, a driver phoned to check location (Collins St !) and then turned the wrong way, away from me. 20m later he calls again and wonders why I am cranky. Cancellled him. Next day same pickup point a driver misses me, carries on by, goes round the block and returns, but my acct gets pinged a wait fee. Contested both in clear language (first time it looks like AI is reading yr mssg so clarity and simplicity is reqd). I assume complaints ppl hv to check drivers’ GPS routes in such complaints, so factual info and times are important to include in ur complaint.

Agree with a follow up to Uber, late night BNE arrival (JQ from DPS) and took an Uber into the Art series in town, was charged the M7 toll even though we didn’t use it, just followed the roads over it via Albion into town which makes it look like the M7 was used.

I got charged a wait fee from Uber at the Adelaide airport because he couldn't get his card to work to get into the pick up zone. He made it on the third attempt but in the meantime had to do a big loop. I queried it and without any back and forth it was cancelled straight away

Recently booked two separate hotels and instead of selecting two people and one room selected two rooms and one person. Rates were non refundable. Pleading with the hotels commenced. One was great, the other took a bit more work, but resolved it in the end. One room with two people secured.

Think I just made one, will find out Monday when we go Jetstar Hba Mel. V little choice with VA or the crook Roo, so needs must. First time in a very long time, pretty much since QF started swapping out usual QF Tas flts for their orange cousins ..mite be worth a ‘first impressions’ report?

I flew in on QF8 from Los Angeles this morning and arrived about 6:30am, more or less on schedule. I have a separate reward flight with Qantas leaving at 2 pm - about a seven hour, jet lagged wait.

Why did I do that? Was I so desperate to get a Qantas reward seat that I adopted stupid timing or was I so afraid of Qantas being late that I gave myself an overly big buffer? I can’t recall but a dumb mistake.

So while waiting for my bags, I noticed Virgin had a business reward seat leaving at 10 am so I jumped on that and cancelled the Qantas. The weather is bad in Sydney this morning so hopefully the flight will be okay and I don’t have a second mistake for the same day.

All I could do was look out the window where it was teeming when we landed at 6:30am with heavy very heavy grey clouds. And still raining when I went over to domestic.
