On Sunday 29 April the CNN Business Traveller show at 2130 hours features the reimagined Kangaroo Route with Richard Quest. It includes an interview with AJ.

I've set my Fetch TV box to record it.

The ladies from our street would now be 12 hours into their flight to London. They went on frequent flyer points and were excited at getting to a holiday destination directly.

Report from our latest friends who went on points in Y on this Dreamliner 787 is they didn’t like the passengers in front of them reclining their seats. They called their seats cattle class probably because they flew in business class recently. Yes it is hard to go back.....

As if anyone isn’t going to recline their seats on a 17 hour flight.

I hadn’t given that too much thought Pushka. It is hard to read when there is a seat in your face unless you recline as well.

So I've watched what turned out to be part one of two of this show and it seems ok. It compares QF9 with the original seven stop Kangaroo route.

Haven't seen any AFFers I know, yet.

My thoughts on QF 9 having just done it.

Narrow seats are horrible. Seat padding for the bottom is too hard. Sore bum. Storage places and IFE are pretty good. Timing of the flight is pretty good.

PER airport going through security twice is annoying. No priority queue for the second lot and no fast track immigration. Transit lounge is a bit naff. The "outdoor" area is just an open roof area, but otherwise fully enclosed. So just makes the entire lounge noisy with aircraft noise. If you want to actually have a meal before your flight, the fancy hot dog doesn't cut it. Better off stopping in at the domestic J lounge on the way through (which you're entitled to do if you have lounge access).

All in all, if you're needing to get the LHR from PER in Y. It might be worth considering. I needed to connect to TLV and went this option as I was hoping for a points upgrade and CX via HKG had a long layover. Next time I'll try CX and just hang in the F lounges there instead. The BA F lounge in T5 is nothing special. I've been in nicer J lounges.

Yes Daver6 the seats in Y are a big problem for folks over 50kgs it seems.

My niece and 2 kids are doing this flight in Y in September. She is QP member so she can access the Dom lounge as well as the transit lounge?

Did anybody see the spare 787 at Perth as back up on the inaugural flight? It was shown on CNN.
