Interesting. I'm 40 SC away from plat and am wondering whether they'll comp me or not. My review date is 10 September and I have no reason to fly before then due to the project I was on going live.

Has anyone been comp'd 40 SC before? My colleague was comp'd 20 to get to plat, but not sure if 40 is too far off.

As per the offer I got I have booked and flown two return flexi fares in the time period. The flights have posted to my velocity account. However no sign of my status being renewed. Have others had a lag in getting status renewed? I might leave it a week to see what happens, then give them a call.

Same here - I called them this morning to ask about it, the guy on the phone (who, as a side note, couldn't have been nicer) had to go and speak to someone. He said that they don't think it will be reflected online until my review date is reached. I.e. it won't say "Achieved". I was advised to call back after my review date if it hadn't rolled over to next year automatically.

Doubtful. VA don't reward those who show loyalty. In your case you've almost reached plat by BIS miles so they'll expect you to qualify that way. Had you shown no interest in the VA product and flown mostly with QF, they'd be falling all over themselves to give you plat on a plate. Sounds stupid? Ridiculous? Moronic? Woeful? Embarrassing? Pathetic? Disgusting? Yes, I agree but that seems to be the way VA view customer loyalty.

Good luck.

Got offered partner Platinum when I rang to upgrade a flight today. This is on 1100SC. I'm sorry but this is just plain stupid. Double dip on SC benefits, with the same SC counting towards requalification and partner platinum. ATA was costing money? but what about giving out a free gold (at least) and probably platinum for every platinum VFF member. WTF! This is just plain dumb.

Wow.... Ummmmm that is very.... Generous...!

Feel sorry (again) for the earned BIS flyers though.

Has anyone got an offer like this lately? I have my review date coming up in six weeks and will probably need to get a leg up to get back to Platinum.

Or be satisfied with the status you've actually earned/soft landed to.

The main offer is everyone at the moment, ie, SC's earned on award fares. I don't believe there have been any 'fly two retain' type offers recently.

Which in my book is a return to some kind of sensibility. Now they're rewarding all, not favouring some of their FFers whilst continually disadvantaging others. It also returns to the base premise that you have to actually fly to earn SCs rather than that arrogance and stupidity they engaged in last year, which absolutely distroyed the full on loyalty I had previously reserved for them.

Raging against corporations giving undeserving people freebies will only make you bitter.

Sitting and saying nothing is not my forte. Silence is acceptance and I don't accept it. I disagree that there is no such thing as loyalty in those industries but I do agree the loyalty expires very quickly. In VRs case they pre-empted that and withdrew the loyalty shown to some of their (previously) most loyal customers and at least they can't say nobody told them they were creating deep seated resentment against them. VA/VR will never again know my loyalty, but I'm happy to use and abuse every avenue I can find to benefit me at VA shareholders expense (sorry shareholders). Oh, and I have told them and I have had aknowledgement from the highest level, so at least they know, which is better than sitting around seething. Given the later incentives have been devised far more fairly......who knows, maybe I did actually have a win with my "raging" (that is, I and all the others who voiced their disapproval as well).
