Hi all,

I have hit maintain of my status a couple of weeks ago, review date not until 6 November.

I have a few United flights next week - are these effectively 'worthless' when it comes to my next renewal period?

My current status credits are 1150 - I presume these simply drop off after 12 months? Do I need to get 800 credits between date I retained, or does it not start again until my review date?

Final question - I have no issue with status credits, but I do have an issue with Virgin/domestic sectors generally. Is it wrong/bad to book flight in my name for another traveller if they just have carry on/check in online etc? I understand this would be against the rules. Alternative is to book flights and not take them, but I suspect this won't work either.

Apologies - I have had a hunt through the forums with no answers easily found.

If you or the person you bought the flights for, does do OLCI, and not fly, then you are considered a no show, could cause problems for the rest of the people on the flight, as they have to keep calling "for the final passengers who failed to board VAxx_ please make yourself known to the gate staff... and offloading procedures have commenced."
You can make booking in anyones name, but they get the eligible sectors, on the more $ (expensive) sectors.
Also, on the cheaper fares, ie, on lite fares, its not counted as eligible sectors.
VFF SC goes in a cycle, not fixed 12 months, so the faster you earn SC, your benefit with VFF is that you keep the SC for the next 12 months, unlike QFF which is fixed.
Edit: putting your name, but other traveller/s fly, is also bad, in case something happens emergency wise.
And flying here in Aust under a false name, is a crime, but not sure how its "policed" by the airlines, maybe they know, but you can definitely book with your card, but other people are flying.
If you make a booking in your name "Joe Bloggs", but the Joe Bloggs that checks in is not you, if all goes well, it might work, but if something gets knows, the "flyer" can be denied boarding.

Just to add: the last VAd MEL - SYD evening flight today, at 18:00/6pm, got cancelled.
If you had put someone on this flight, as the "other" Joe Bloggs, maybe VA would know/find out, might not care, but its all supposition anyway.
Best of luck in your "endeavours".

You get points and status, but yes, they won't contribute to your post 6 November requalification.

Do you have anyone you can Family pool them too?

I have found that over the last twelve months my ID has been checked everytime at check-in. The only way (and as someone has already pointed out, it's a crime), is to have no baggage and check-in online. Having said that, I would be a little peeved at having MY flight delayed due to someone getting caught out in this manner.

Totally good points about others traveling in mine name - or booking and not travelling - won't do either of these!

Not at the same address. A little annoying as it's probably gonna be 250 or so, but plans should still have me qualifying OK next year again.

Does Virgin still do physical cards? Been waiting 5 weeks for one. Don’t desperately need it, just wondering if they still do them?

@Jusrus, have a look at the WhereToCredit website and see if your date class and flights you have planned with UA will get you anything worthwhile with any other program. You might be able to squeeze silver with someone else if the flights are in the right earn classes.
The other thing could be that you might even be able to get a status match (against your VA status) from another airline and then use those UA flights to meet the match requirements. UA used to do a status challenge to quickly get gold or platinum with a smaller number of flights needed. Could these ‘extra’ flights be put to that purpose?

If you have further travel coming up in the US next year maybe try to get status with a Star Alliance airline and use these flights as the starting point.
