I don't drink as I am allergic to it, it makes me feel funny ;). However, I plan on one glass of champagne in F at take off. Which is best for a non drinker?

Is there a place to find which meals and the menu for QF11? I couldn't find the details on the QF website.

There isn't a choice in F. You will be served one of the following
2000 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne
2000 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
2004 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame

IMO if you aren't used to the taste then the Taittinger is the most approachable of the three.

I'd agree. I'd say the LGD is the slightly sweeter variety if one prefers a sweeter white wine. That's just my personal taste though.

Thanks for all your comments. Maybe I will have a small glass of all three to see which ones I prefer. Thanks Kangol, that's a good link.

I'm looking forward to it.

You won't get the opportunity to compare the three. As PF said, what's on offer on your flight is one of the three.

LGD is an absolutely cracking grape juice

My favourite!

My last F flight a month back (QF94) I was so excited to see the yellow label on the bottle the F/A was holding on boarding I must have seemed like a kid in a candy shop. The delightfully wonderful F/A kept me well stocked and I was happy as Larry :)

Not that the others are bad by any stretch, but we all have our preferences :)

Only Duval Leroy NV Brut on the ground at LAX at the moment. So sorry onboard bar choices not available.

Prior to take off. Don't know why. I asked the first time and got some odd answer, didn't ask again.

It's not uncommon for USA carriers to serve cheaper sparkling wine on the ground... I think to avoid paying duty. Not sure whether QF is following suit? Should be back to the good stuff once in the air.

I've done QF12 in F twice last year, once was the cheap stuff on the ground and the other was Taittinger CDC. Both flights had the Taittinger in the air.
Yes the duty may be a big part.

They never serve the 'really good stuff' on the ground. Imagine the rush to the trough ;):shock:.

They certainly used to and other airlines definitely do.

I can never recall seeing Comtes (vintage by definition), for example, in the QF F lounge. IME, it's usually been four - all NV, with the main ones being Taittinger, Bollinger, Veuve Clicqot and another NV.

Similarly, BA F lounge at LHR has only NVs. It's a while since I was in the Concorde Room but IIRC, even that did not offer vintage Champagne.

Dang - did I go on the wrong days?

In our experience with Qantas, EK and BA, the 'good stuff' is not served until after take off, due to duty not being paid on the 'good stuff'. DOM, Hennessey Paradis and good wines etc. are definitely not available until after take off. Amusingly some FAs, who are new, offer it then have to come back and apologise and offer the 'cheap stuff'! :)
