They were all excellent but course 6 was a cracker - and I'm not a dessert eater!

Gentlemen, can I say that was a most excellent and convivial meal.

JohnM, your ability of choosing such an excellent venue is beyond compare. Pair that with your excellent choice of the first two red wines and your explanation. We all agreed that they were brilliantly matched and only wish we'd decided at the beginning to buy 3 bottles and slotted in the SC Pannell in the middle.

For those that haven't eaten at Lalla Rookh (and particularly those coming over for a visit), do yourself a favour and eat here - make sure JohnM is available. The plates got better throughout the meal and we certainly were agog at the Osso Bucco but completely blown away at the dessert. I'll admit to savouring every single mouthful - slowly.

We certainly have the Asian girls at the next table to thank for our inglorious attempt at Happy Birthday.

A pity that you three had to leave at 10pm to go back on public transport to houses and hotel. Thinking of Steady off on another flight early tomorrow.

UpInTheAir, I presume you mean Fri 29th - we'll have to start a new thread for that . Don't think I have any plans but will have to wait to see what my staff have done (made any appointments) on my return.

She wouldn't be able to make it into the city as she'd be picking up the kids from school - so you'll just have to suffer with my company (and anyone else we can drag along)

Funnily enough, I have put an oxtail stew on in the slow cooker this morning .
