Velocity Frequent Flyer has traditionally given a bonus each May and November to encourage members to transfer points across from a credit card program.

Like clockwork, a new offer has just gone live:

You need to make at least one manual transfer in both November and December to get the bonus points.

This one is only on manual transfers, and the bonus is only 10%. In previous promos it's been at least 15%. Flybuys is not a participating program for this offer.

According to the T&Cs, "Bonus Points will be allocated to the member’s Velocity account by 31 January 2025."

Won't do this from my Citi Premier, which can convert into KF (at 2.5:1), Velocity (at 2:1) or Flybuys. Rather keep the powder dry for a couple of US J awards on SQ...

I have points with Amplify that I want to transfer across to an airline before closing my card. The choices are Velocity (2:1 rate) or KrisFlyer (3:1 rate). In my case, it makes sense to transfer to Velocity at the 10% bonus because, even if I end up transferring those points onwards from VA to SQ, I'll still end up with more in my KrisFlyer account than if I just transfer directly from Amplify to KrisFlyer.

I have transferred 2 CBA points into 1 VA point to trigger the first month requirement and then can decide in December.

I was going to sweep some points using this 10% bonus promotion but forgot about. Just got a push notification for a deal for 15% bonus points if I do my "first ever auto-transfer". I don't think I've ever done an auto-transfer with Velocity so I guess I'll take that up.

Thanks, found it in the app.
It refers to transfer from velocity only, so not sure if it is for "first ever" auto from velocity, of "first ever" ever.

Well after making my first transfer in November, I transferred the entire remaining balance out of my Amplify account on at 3.59pm (AEDT) on 1 December. The Velocity points have just arrived in my account showing an "activity date" of 30 November and a "process date" of 2 December.

The activity date is incorrect, and I bet it will mean I miss out on the bonus points unless I follow up later with Velocity.

UGH - that's not fun!

I waited for today to complete the 2nd transfer.

Of course mine have not yet shown up so you are ahead of me there!

I should have done that.

I called Velocity and they asked me to send them an email with a screenshot showing the transfer on 1 Dec. Will have to wait and see what they do with that...

Very disappointing rookie error @Mattg 😊.

I definitely realised this was a risk, so waited until well after midnight GMT to initiate the transfer. Even that didn't save me! 😂

Seriously though, Velocity should have systems that can accurately detect the activity date, especially when it's running promotions like these where the activity date is so important.

Well Velocity replied to my email and basically told me to contact them again if I haven't received the bonus points after 31 January 2025.

Last time this came around I had that worry but it credited fine, it just took forever and no manual intervention was required.

I have to transfer approx 200k of my approx 500K NAB points to Virgin by the end of December or lose them. I also have a credit note for approx AUD$2,300 and an upgrade certificate from a previous flight. I also have approx 500K QFF points.

I would like to fly J or F-class daylight AI (do they have F-class?) from MEL-DEL/BOM with a self-funded overnight layover and then on to Europe (pref LHR) in mid-April returning late September. This year I flew to FRA and trained the rest of the way.

My wife can't handle the Indian airport chaos & doesn't want to fly AI anymore, so I'm also looking for best option to get her MEL-LON in J about 2 weeks later and return to MEL at the same time.

*Where should I transfer the points, is another airline an option?

*Am I eligible for a transfer bonus?

*Should I use the credit and certificate for a one-way ticket for me and return together with my wife on another airline?

Help!

You can see the NAB Rewards transfer partners here:

You will get the 10% bonus points if you transfer to Velocity this month, provided you also made at least one month transfer last month.

Regarding what to do in your situation - are you just looking for a reward seat for your wife on something other than Air India? If you can't find SQ or QR availability through Velocity, you could instead transfer your NAB points to Cathay or Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer which often have better business availability to London.
