Mask Mandates on Aircraft?

They are removing the mask mandate in Germany too apparently (according to One Mile at a time).
I’m hoping that is true. I’m flying MUC-LHR in just over a week (flying LHR-VIE outbound which doesn’t require a mask).

They're supposed to formally announce it later this week. So fingers crossed!

No masks required flying *to* the UK. At least on BA. In fact, didn’t need a mask LHR-BER back in APR.

Depends on the country's rules - back before Singapore dropped their ban you didn't need it ex Singapore - but Germany apparently insisted on it in both directions. There's a table on the BA website with this info.

Like when Australia used to insist on it in both directions, but then dropped the outbound requirement.

From personal experience, flying BA LON to/from DE in Apr. No mask on board.

On arrival at BER, everyone was asked to mask up to enter BER terminal.

But back then didn’t Germany not require masks on planes?

I remember a few months ago the table on the BA website said you only had to wear it in the airport in Germany, but has since been changed to require them on flights in both directions (but no longer at the terminal).

No, quite the opposite! Germany was one of the last to drop masks in general. Only just now on public transport.

Right, well the BA website indicated masks weren’t required on flights to Germany (which matches your experience).

I guess I’ll find out soon.

Looks like it’s been somewhat more quietly pulled from international flights to Australia as well (effective tomorrow)
Commented earlier after 30 Aug announcement.

I had a suspicion this was the original intent (it would be ludicrous to argue the health benefits for it but not domestic flights).

I think the reason it was announced as domestic flights at national cabinet is that the state health orders only specify rules for domestic flights. I had a look at both QLD & NSW and there's no mention of international rules.

So it was probably always intended to come off at the same time - and some outlets reported that it would - just clumsy wording in the release.

I'm flying QF F LAX-SYD next month so this is very much welcomed.

So which routes out of Australia require a mask now if any and still some other airlines such as Emirates requiring masks on all flights or is that done and dusted?

This was absolutely not the case when I spent a few days there mid-month. To the contrary only 10% wearing them, and quite right too.
Compliance in Melbourne public transport are even lower now than when you seen it last

I haven't heard anything about the UAE government relaxing the rules, so may be still a thing..

I suspect masks may be required if flying into Japan or Hong Kong given still strict rules in those countries. Probably mainland China too,.

We fly out of Munich on Sunday so this is all very interesting.
