I currently have a J and F flight SIN-HND-SFO with JAL booked.. but am about too change to a J direct flight SIN-SFO on Sinagpore. (This would be an A350-900) I'm short, but MrHillbilly is 6foot
(The other option is a 777-300ER via HK. - Adding a couple of hours.)
Is putting up with a 6 hour layover in Tokyo worth the pain if the SIN J seats are so terrible? Or are they bearable for 15+ hours??

I booked the baby bulk head seats for next flight because they dont have the foot cubby but aware I might lose the seat if a baby/parent needs it. They would not let us book the bulkhead seats on this occassion as i was unable to walk or move out of my seat without the special wheelchair.Absolutely take JAL if you can Even with the stopover. The A359 seats are no better than other seats with the small cubby for your feet (unless you score a blkhead seat where the foot rests are unencumbered).
Regarding the OP's comments - this is one of the things you either 'know' or 'don't'. After this flight you will know to reserve a bulkhead seat for unrestricted legroom, where to find the amenities, and to book the cook if you want a wide choice of meals for the red-eyes. Unfortunately it's a case of having to take the first flight to find out

The cabin staff were gorgeous as always but there must be some HUGE budget cuts...firstly the menu was meagre with nothing fabulous on it and very few choices. No cheese and biscuits if you just wanted a snack..no deserts.
There was no amenities kit and believe this or not~no toothbrush/toothpaste.
The beds were absolutely horrible..so uncomfortable. The staff make the bed up for you and you have to lay on quite an angle with very little leg room.
This was by far the worst business class flight I have ever taken and I would never fly them again and the nurse who flies business all over the world bringing home patients said exactly the same. She was very unhappy.

Agreed on the foot wells, makes it feel like a coffin.Yep, you've struck the antithesis of the 'old' SQ experience, which I miss also. The meals and amenity kits were symptomatic of the timing of the flight, but I think the angled, narrow footwells are dreadful.
I'm so cool I leave my amenity kits behind on other airlines. I mean, 5ml of some obscure, overpriced moisturiser and a load of plastic waste.... whatever!Meals, yes. If wanting to a specific type of meal, always advisable to book the cook on such flights. However, SQ has not handed out amenity kits (other than during special promotional periods) for at least 15 years, and probably longer.
Bugger, I did not realise this, Thats the flight i am on for my return leg. Sounds like a pretty cough meal service.
It was through my NAB credit card platinum and the insurance underwriters are ALLIANZ..and i cannot praise Allianz highly enough. They literally saved my life..i have no idea how i could have gotten home without the nurse.I just want to know who your insurance is with if they're providing a nurse on a flight!
I have flown a few flights in Singapore J and although the seat design is at an angle it was fine for me, 5f11, so not tall. I saw in your original post about the broken ankle, that would definitely tip the scales against you. no way the angled seating will be comfortable for that leg. I would have reclined the seat as far as i could and slept seated/reclined which i do on certain flights, i just enjoy it better. Sorry to hear about your troubles.The space was cough imho. Two years ago I flew Singapore business class Sydney to Paris - on points. I was also disappointed, and found them rather lacking. No amenity kit and if I wanted a toothbrush, well there were some in the bathrooms. Because I also wanted to fly home business class, I looked around for a return business class flight from Lucerne to Sydney. I chose Oman Airways - what absolute luxury and the food - out of this world. Because Oman does not fly into Australia, in KL I had to change to Malaysian. Their business class was heaps better than Singapore, maybe the flat bed was a little smaller, but otherwise they were miles ahead of Singapore.
