So I'm preparing to enjoy the F lounge under my own power for the first since makingWP :) Travelling on QF87 SYD-HKG which departs after 3pm I'm wondering how early is the earliest I could manage to check-in? Can do carry-on luggage only if that helps, have had a search around but looking to see what the current possibilities are without travelling on JQ :)

If you only have carry on luggage you should be able to check in online and arrive for breakfast, stay for lunch and have early afternoon snacks!!!. QF staff in the lounge or at the gate will need to sight your passport.

Generally 3hrs before, unless you can manage a connection.
First desk may be nice if carryon only but YMMV

Not sure I'll be able to get past customs with a printed boarding pass that hasn't been stamped? I certainly intend to do the full works though :)

I have done this in Melbourne, not to get into the lounge early, just for convenience. Maybe someone slipped up on the immigration desk?

Boarding passes are only stamped for domestic transfers, not for bonafide international flights. You'll be fine to go through any time if you only have carryon.

To coin a phrase 'Exx_xxcellant' :) I'll be in like Flynn as early as possible then - was looking at a few hours to burn after dropping off the hire car which can now be done in style

There's nothing to stamp on an international boarding pass for a SYD/HKG flight so it doesn't matter whether you show customs your OLCI A4 bit of paper or the traditional bit of cardboard you would have received at a checkin counter.

As Tony mentioned above if doing OLCI & travelling with HLO (hand luggage only) see the staff in the lounge & show them your passport as they need to remove the comment "check passports & visas" to enable you to board the flight.

Any time someone does OLCI with HLO their booking will automatically have this comment added which stops someone boarding a flight without valid docs for their destination eg a visa or 6 month passport validity.

This explains why some people get a "beep" at the gate.

Got it - I remember this happened to me last week in HKG, I did OLCI and got a mobile boarding pass which beeped when I got to the gate as no one had sighted my passport. Sorted quickly at the desk though and the CX Supervisor proactively printed out my e-ticket for Phillipines immigration have seen that I was doing a TPE status run! :)

You can get your BP sighted and flagged OK in the reswhen you enter the lounge - they may even print a "real" BP if you ask nicely. :D

Correct. When the lounge agent does a reprint they will see the pop-up msg on screen that says "check passports & visas" & they must click yes so the comment is removed & the boarding pass can print out.

Alternatively the lounge agent could sign into the boarding application (same as what the gate agent would do) & delete the comment so the pax name is subsequently removed from the ineligible to board list so no beep at gate & no need to reprint boarding pass.

Sorry to drag out this slightly older thread but I got a short weekend trip to Auckland coming up this Friday and want to make sure I don't sit around for ages in the terminal waiting for check in to open: If I need to check in luggage, the earliest I can check in will be 3 hours prior which doesn't leave me too much time in the Flounge. However, if I manage to squeeze everything into a small hand luggage bag, then I can theoretically storm the Flounge hours before my flight already?

If that's the case, it will be a very easy decision whether to have fresh clothes for every single day or rather be a bit of a piggy in favor of hours of free-flowing champagne :p:shock:

I suspect that you already know the answer to the question!

Just did this on Monday - dropped the hire car at 10am, straight through immigration with printed OLCI boarding pass and up to the lounge at 10:30 for breakfast.

Flight was at 3:30pm :)

As nice as the F lounge is I think five hours would be a bit much for me...

I'm actually thinking about six

Had a four hour stay the other day (that was after a connecting flight so the luggage issue didn't exist) and found it not even remotely enough to make my way through the entire menu and beverage list :p
