Maybe I've just not looked before, but are these charges new?

Guess it's the first time I've been so shocked by a Y fare Adel - Mel that I actually checked out the fare structure. And how a single fare of $435 can be called a redE special beggars belief.
My only comment is that Red E deal is not an indication of a deal for the pax. It's just a way to group the restrictions on the fare.
the cost will be whatever the market will bear.

That's it pretty much.

Also for that flight on Wednesday the 19th, the flight is completely full the QF690.
QF676 has 10 spare in total.

Those charges have been there but I'm the same I don't really check.

Airfares have been ridiculous and continue to be ridiculous.

I flew BNE-SYD last Thursday at 7:05am and SYD-BNE today at 6:05am. These flights were the only ones under $200 each way when I booked end September.

Trying to take my daughter to SYD sometime during Christmas school holidays on a weekend and airfares are just as ridiculous.

In re to JohnK, its not only Christmas, its also school holidays, and QF and its ilk plus the others are trying to recoup what they lost during covid and its restricives/restrictions.
Not only that, there was also talk of QF and the others reducing capacity by dropping flights in each day, so as more people want to fly, availability gets tighter, ergo, also fares go up with it.
Maybe do some "ahead" planning, and do a drive instead, and then fly later in 2023, but book ahead.
QF has said, its "recouping" or making inroads into its losses, or making $1.3m, as mentioned by AJ a few days ago.

It's this type of thinking that concerns me.

Qantas and other airlines made a huge mistake managing the pandemic. Every single executive (apart from CEO) should have been laid off not essential staff they now can't find.

These domestic airfares are ridiculous and I simply refuse to play their game.

I will go overseas but limited trips and hopefully some competition returns to bring down these ridiculous airfares.

Had to laugh. Media report this morning about Public Servants or politicians taking expensive short distance flights. In a shocked voice the announcer just said 'And one even booked a $920 seat from Sydney to Canberra'. The media needs to dig further.

OffT, bet that those VIPs/pollies, etc, via human intervention on the airline's side, do not fly the Dash8, as we know those don't have a J cabin.OnT

That’s it. The media clearly don’t pay for flights currently.

Flights are full because of major Oil and Gas conference in Adelaide convention centre. And a huge contingent of Extinction demonstrators. Who clearly didn't walk here.
