I think mine went up ~10% which is really a joke. Expect an increase every year now to the point where one cannot afford private health cover. And I only have basic cover for a single person. Imagine if I had a family.Got an email a few days ago with an increase of roughly 13%, did the premiums of anyone else go up as much?

In anticipation of the price rise, I prepaid a year's premiums in advance a couple of weeks ago....so my premiums are now paid up to 31 Dec 2016. 2 days ago, I received a notice to pay my premiums now to beat the price rise.....for the period 1 Jan 17 to 31 Dec 17!!....so I did :mrgreen:...hopefully my premiums are now prepaid til 31 Dec 2017 at today's (prerise) rates!!

What happens if you need to vary your cover before 31 Dec 17?

My understanding is that if you make any changes, you will have to pay the new (current) rate.Prepay = no changes.

I asked the customer service agent what a year's premium was, and said I wanted to pay that amount...he was most reluctant saying the computer won't accept it...I said let me pay and see what happens. ..I can only get 14 months in advance.... How did you get to December?

When the [-]stupids[/-] government took the economically responsible step to repeal[-]ed the rebate[/-] my middle class welfare - I was able to pre-paid for 18 months.
Fixed that for you
There was no need to privatise.
It was a not for profit organisation that charged the appropriate premiums to survive. But but but the free market will sort itself out...
I'm sure amaroo pays a lot of tax. Private health insurance means not needing to use public hospitals as much. What is welfare is not having a Medicare co-payment.
