Doubt he'd manage to get back down to MEL a week later to drink Champagne but I shall mention it to him.

Tell him there is Champagne on Friday and Red on Saturday... He will show up :p:p

Sadly I am now a scratching from this event and kicking myself after also missing MEL CAN 1. Sadly (for numerous reasons) we will now be in Sydney.

We had a fabulous weekend stumbling on a champagne deal at BWS. We're renovating a house in regional VIC and while in the BWS noticed they were clearing certain champagne lines to no longer be stocked. Billecart-Salmon NV was down to $45 a bottle and Taittinger NV to $28... and in a six it was even less. We walked out with 5 x Billecart and 2 x Taittinger (in other words all of the stock) for $231 total. Register guy thought we were crazy. I sent my brother on the hunt to a different store in the same area and he was able to find similar deals. When back in Melbourne's inner east these prices were definitely not repeated at our local BWS :(

What are the requirements on the type of champagne to bring to this event.
I want to bring something that is up to Cruisers requirements; and yes I booked some flights so I am definitely going.

He has had to decline as he'll be winging it to Japan to mark a PhD around then.

I thought the requirement from the last event was that it had to be champagne, it couldn't simply be sparkling. But I may have just dreamed that ;)

To be clear:

1. The title of this thread is MELCAN II (Melbourne Champagne Appreciation Night No. 2)
2. For those confused intending attendees who require clarification of exactly what Champagne is - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champagne
3. The concept of the night is that a group of like minded AFF members will get together and share good fellowship and sample the variety of different Champagnes attendees have brought with them.
4. This is not a night of 'one upmanship' - there is no prize for the 'most expensive' - there is no 'minimum or maximum standard or price'.

HOWEVER: We don't live in North Korea - so attendees are free to bring along any drink that think is suitable and that they want to share around.
