Is it really negative PR though?

The main people affected are veteran forumites who will have known it was a mistake fate. They rolled the dice and will be happy if it comes off. Might be miffed if they miss out, but all will know that it was not really a deal they were entitled too. So I cannot really see any real long-term damage.
I noticed someone familiar in this thread yesterday. I wonder how many tickets they booked for the family! ;)

FWIW a P1 on my Facebook group has posted that they have been advised directly by QF that the fare has been cancelled.

It is also important to add, that this one person is the ONLY one out of possibly thousands of people who purchased tickets who has been contacted. Why would only 1 person be notified? And why would the bookings still be visible in FF accounts?

Strange no?

Interesting how most of the posts in this thread are from people who haven't actually booked anything!

FWIW a P1 on my Facebook group has posted that they have been advised directly by QF that the fare has been cancelled.

And also received 50,000 QFF points compensation per pax.

Seriously I'm willing to bet my first born QF would profit out of this whole thing if they honoured the fares once you factor in ALL costs and associated revenues.

I booked (and flew) MEL-LHR-MEL on QF for about $1,050 in Oct-2013, via expedia.br

Many flew to Singapore for ~$400 return.

Surprised those were honored but these aren't? Very similar prices?

That was the year I made VA WP, one-way on .br fare to Singapore then VA J HKT-PER-MEL in J... for ~0 points and ~$20 in taxes. x 3 trips all while collecting SC's. Those were the days... :)

How do you know that ?

Because it is a pretty safe bet that no one is going to keep the info to themselves if they are contacted.

The biggest 24 hours in QF for a while and you think people wont speak up if they get the cancellation notice??

I don't agree. Just because there's little posting on SM doesn't necessarily mean that QF aren't contacting individual customers apart from the person I mentioned above.

I don't think for one minute that he/she is the only passenger QF has contacted.

So what are people's thoughts on next steps if a cancellation comes through from an OTA?

ie is there recourse available through NSW Fair Trading or ACCC

Thats cool, we can agree to disagree. I realise not everyone will post if they have had contact, but I do not believe that only 1 person would and all the others would hold off and keep that info to themselves, especially when it is being asked in the facebook threads, has anyone heard anything yet.

People cant wait to post that stuff when it happens

Yes I did JohnK. He's been strangely quiet of late. I'm just waiting to hear about the next (if I may quote another AFFer) "trail of destruction."

I booked through Expedia USA site.....still popping up in my Qantas bookings!! Touchwood.
